With respect, Detale, I really hope you leave things alone. I'm very rarely one to get in to squabbling on here, but I do like the fact people can, within reason, pretty much say what they want.

Most forums nowadays are over-moderated and one has to constantly watch what they say. It's a real pain. I come here often to get away from that ethos whihch is all too prevelant on torrent forums for example.

Well said, although here @ FST some of the arguments/comments go way way way beyond acceptable levels. Lots of hate speech and harsh words flying around, which needs to be curbed. I am okey with some squabbling though, as it makes for some interesting reading :happy:

Actually after reading the last couple of pages and seeing the usual suspects insulting each other as a way to get a point across, I couldn't agree more. The sheer irony that this thread has descended into exactly the kind of flame war with personal attacks on others simply to get a point of view across, is an excellent example of the state of affairs in this forum.

Debate is healthy, the different points of view are what make this forum interesting, the need to insult others to try and get a point across, simply demeans the point of view you were trying to make, and weakens your position.

No double posts, crap threads, excessive flames, pointless one-liners to up post counts... Most threads are really constructive now, it's nice.

Mods? It's a rather blunt and simple task to delete users who don't follow the rules, namely the ones involving social conduct. After all, why have them if they aren't enforced?

my opinion, about this issue, and so many others, is simple.
there's much more than it meets the eye in this forum, and i don't mean only to the member's eyes, but also to the moderation team's eyes. And they know that quite well. Let's call it the "macro-politics" of the forum.
I think i've long understood what's the basic non-spoken rule around here, and sometimes discussing minor "details" is just a waste of everyone's time.
