If the system insists that the email address be unique, couldn't you just set up a dummy address to register with and then change it to your old one once the new name is activated?
I take it this means you've chosen a new name?

Yes, I have chosen a new name.
But if I change e-mail address and use one that I already have won't that deactivate that username? What I mean is that when I try to change my e-mail address it tells me that I will have to resend the activation e-mail back before I can log back in. My concern is that it might deactivate the other account if I use it's e-mail address.
I hope that is clear enough.
Anyway I would just like to know why I cannot just sign-up using the same e-mail address?
you must be gagging to post somewhere somebody1234 :D
dont know about the email thing btw
Have you tried signing up with the same address, or are you just assuming you cannot?
I don't know whether changing the address once the account was active would have an adverse on you old account/s or not.
I have tried to sign-up with the same username. I get a message that says something to the effect of: "That e-mail address is already used here. Choose another"
I guess so... I was reading some stuff in HardwareWorld! :wacko:Quote:

Yes, I see. I just tried myself.
However, if you'll only be using "Somebody1234" on an occasional basis, why not change the email address for it instead? Then you can use the address you are more accustomed to for the new name.
I think I will just end up with another hotmail account. I was just hoping that there would be a solution so that I don't end up with too many mailboxes.
That's a good idea! I think that's what I'll do. Thankyou AfterBurn. :DQuote:

You are probably already aware of this, but just in case you're not I thought I'd mention it. If you use Outlook or Outlook Express, you can route all your hotmail addresses through it to make it easier to manage multiple accounts.

this is a great site, can't remember who pointed it out to me, but it's very handy
basically, you make up an address, e.g. [email protected]
you don't have to sign up, no details are given etc...the mailbox is only created when an email actually comes, you login very easily, it's great
That's a neat concept 3rd gen noob. It's not exactly secure, but would definitely come in handy for those "one time only" emails.
Yes, like your thinking.Quote:

It was my own choice. :)
It was difficult to tell. It looks like you got over 80 suggestions!
Maybe you should change names more often. This was a very popular thread.
Quite true. I really enjoyed reading all the suggestions. B)
Except for maybe a couple. <_<
Well yes, the "George W Bush" remark was totally uncalled for.Quote:
