Azureus was once a nice program. Then it suffered the same, "hey, lets go commercial" attitude that so many have fallen to. Once that happens, it's time to bail out. I did.
Switched to utorrent and have been very happy.

Azureus/Vuze is shit in my mind.
I always use UT.and rtorrent is best for linux.
I don't like any Java programms (expect Jdownloader) because they always eat too much memory and runs slow as hell after running for several hours.

I am not a fan of Java apps, however I don't have problems like this with Vuze. The common view in this thread is that Vuze is a resource hog. However, I've been running version 4.3.1.4 for four days solid and it's not eating resources or running slowly.Quote:

I used to use Azureus, and Vuze when the name changed. It's still set up and whatnot. All the add-ons, and the blocklist support (when I bothered with that) were pretty great. What appealed to me most was speed scheduling. Now I use some private trackers that don't allow Vuze, so I just stick with uTorrent.

Usually that's a symptom of bad settings hogging all your bandwidth. You should use the built-in speed guide to choose the right ones for your connection.Quote:

I ran a stereotyped resourced intensive application on a computer with 11 year old CPU, with 512mbyte of ram, and it... ran fine. No freezing, no errors, didn't hog all my ram like some make it out to do...
I use utorrent about 4-5 years now. Never used azureus.
My question is: What azureus offers that utorrent doesn't?
Bearing in mind that by human nature people are far more likely to read this thread (or bother voting) if they do use Vuze rather than don't. I've never seen the stats from any torrent site that suggest that Vuze has 25% of the market share.Quote:

What exactly was the point of this? I assumed initially you were going to show these stats to What/Waffles in some attempt to get the ban appealed but I doubt it'd do much good at this point in time.
No, I don't, and I doubt I ever will.
I'll stick to uTorrent 1.6.1 until it's banned from trackers, which is something I doubt will ever happen.
