Re: FTN - Why so special?
The only reason FTN is so sought after is its rarity. Its not a very good tracker if you're actually looking for content. They used to have good packs, but even that nearly stopped nowadays. They're slow on pretimes and sometimes releases dont even get on there at all.
Long story short, FTN is not worth getting on.

You're obviously not a member.

Re: FTN - Why so special?
It IS a very good tracker, with an exceptionally fair and hones Staff. Period. To be a sort of "0-day" tracker has never been their goal. It's not about pretimes there.
-
Re: FTN - Why so special?
it's about love and sharing.
for everything else there is mastercard.

Re: FTN - Why so special?
FTN used to be great, now it is just meh

62 packs since 10th. But the number includes 0day and MP3 packs as well.
It certainly is way better than most general sites around with sub 5k member base.

Re: FTN - Why so special?
In my humble opinion, FTN blows quite a bit.
-
Re: FTN - Why so special?
My most used tracker is torrentday !

It certainly is way better than most general sites around with sub 5k member base.
By classifying it as being "better than most with a sub 5k member base " isn't kinda like saying that someone is brilliantly fast for only having one leg?

Re: FTN - Why so special?
Well said. FTN is like a relatively smart retard, however, still a retard and pretty stupid compared to a 'normal' person.
-
Re: FTN - Why so special?
Ftn is special because it's ratiofree and laidback.
-
Re: FTN - Why so special?
They honestly don't have much going for them. Just like U2 they're "stuck in a moment"
Unfortunately that moment was several years ago.

Is there any tracker that you like?

I like sites that have my preferred choice of content. I also like trackers, in which you aren't being begged (actually more like threatened) on constant basis to donate. Only crappy sites with crappy users end up like that. Also, I prefer trackers that won't take me 15 seconds to load the main page.

Fair enough, I know a lot of people that feel the same way (including people that believe every tracker out there is run badly). On the other hand, though, I've seen you complain about plenty of trackers, with incredible disregard to people who might feel the same way you do in this quote, towards the tracker you are criticizing.
The world isn't perfect, and trackers are probably one of the uglier corners of the internet considering the people they attract, but there's little reason to keep convincing people of that fact over and over.

Really? I've been around as most people have. 4chan/Gamefaqs/gaming league forums/High end audio forums/High end watch forums/Board game forums/WoW Calculation forums/Game hacking forums which I ran myself/ the list could go on and on for days to be honest.
Torrenting is and remains the one place where I have seen the largest collection of idiots, to be honest. There's zero other places on the internet that have a bunch of people starting forum game threads every place they go/with every new open forum.

If you measure community by user IQ, I'd bet FTN is no better than any other torrent site.
FTN has minimum seed time. Stop a torrent you didn't seed to 1:1 after a few hours and it appear as s hit-n-run in snatch history. No seeding requirements is one more myth about FTN.
So, what is the minimum seeding time on the torrents? :) Am just curious.

3
6 hours I guess
Used to be, now it's just "seed for as long as possible."

Re: FTN - Why so special?
FTN surprised me. Kind of expected the place to fail to meet my expectations. However, once I got in, FTN has turned out to be something quite special. Always seems to be some activity in the IRC, and there are a few interesting threads in the forums. However, what I fell in love with at FTN is the packs. I know I know, you see invite requests all the time "blah blah community and packs and pre times blah blah blah" but end of the day, those simple things really are what make me enjoy it.

Re: FTN - Why so special?
Why so special? Due to ftn .
the same community , the same source , the same name , the same logo ..the same spam by the team :).. all this years .
pre time and all this technical issues This is not the purpose to be special i believe .
To several of us already there are children that in a while go to the school since FTN exists .
ftn survived times that other communities unfortunately fell in them ...even ftw... (but rabbit for ever of course !!!)
go gona find here so many opinions ...successfully mate.

Re: FTN - Why so special?
its just plain awesome buddy

Re: FTN - Why so special?
Sending you main answer;
The staff is smart and lucky enough
-
Re: FTN - Why so special?
For people with bad connections ftn is very useful but if you have a good connections just use scc
-
Re: FTN - Why so special?
Even with a good connection is hard to survive there.
Unless you start downloading stuff you never intended to, to build a ratio. Which makes no sense to me.
-
Re: FTN - Why so special?
No it's nt really, just by leaving my client open, and every njw and again downloading the odd TV show, with a limited enough connection )100KB/s upload max) I;'ve managed to gain about a 10-15GB buffer, which is enough to download anything I want. If you seed, and are patient there's no problems, people just expect "oh I seed and now I should be safe"
