ST TNG ds9 voyager.... and gasp.... discovery??
There are straight people who watch numerous incarnations of Star Trek-- luckily, they never marry or have children :idunno:
Project UFO on YouTube what a great 70s sci-fi
Thanks for all the suggestions, they're awesome!
Siren is pretty good
For a mini-series Childhood's End (2015) was really good.
Star Trek: Voyager
My two favourite TV shows worth watching: Fringe and Person of Interest.
Any new star trek discovery?
The Expanse
space 1999
Stargate
Psych, can`t wait for Movie 2 to come out.... Although for the lost I recommend Starhunter, was lost along the way (as was space above an beyond). Really good shows and worth the download if you can still find them.
I still have the videotapes that I recorded from TV those many years ago. I just no longer have a VCR. There are DVDRips kicking around the best being Space.Above.and.Beyond.S01.x264.AAC.DPLII-MEECH
Anyway like many shows it was pretty uneven - there was good, there was great and there was shite but at least it went for it, especially in the way it ended. Trivia: David Duchovny has a small uncredited role in E19 R&R.
Good Review here. Probably contains spoilers. https://them0vieblog.com/2014/12/11/...beyond-review/
Space A&B and The Adventures of Brisco County, Jr. probably two of the best shows from that era that never found an audience.
Should have asked me i had 4 VCR's sitting in the basement:yup: 2 Sony's and 2 NEC's (Dropped one off with a box of shit to Bestbuy).. and 5 boxes of VHS's movies (easy 500).. R you a collector Idol?? Do you want them?? To be honest a lot of them i can't watch (Mel Gibson etc;)) 2 Full sets of Star Wars series incl the original, not sure if you were into Disney stuff, i bought the say lion King to watch, then the unopened box sets with the lithographs and shit!!! Was bloody nuts in those days!!!
Was cleaning up the basement getting rid of shit!!! Found 5 PC (presidients choice) editions HO trains sets unopened, 3 TCR (Total Control Racing) car sets, and about at least 400ft of orange hot wheel track!! Do you remember Thundershift 500?? or Hot wheels Sizzlers got those in my basement!!! LIke easy 500ft of AFX track, but no new cars in boxes, but 2 or 3 GPS cars as well:crazy: 2 boxes of RC parts with 3 cars that i made and modified myself!!! 2 off-road and 1 Lamborghini....
And the creme de resistance!!! SSP Smash up Derby!! (It's not the first edition tho), brand new in the box!!!!
Don't know what to do with it anymore???? Kids don't want it:sadwalk: (Even know most of it was mine:whistling).........
Amazing the shit you accumulate when you have an unfinished 1500sqft basement!!!!
I must have had easy 100++ Bell Express VU/Dish Network receivers and how many Direct TV ones!!!!! Plus how many Free to Air boxes!! took them all to BestBuy (Leave them In between the doors......
Turn you basement into a homeless shelter. It will also solve your problem of having too much junk lying around as they will steal everything that isn't bolted down.
You're welcome.I will waive my usual consulting fee this one time only since we are friends.
If that Hotwheels track is what I remember, you don't want to get spanked with it. Or maybe that's why you bought 400ft, Shay... :naughty:
Nice to see you back Porthos :)
What yourdirtygenius mind is thinking, shit that might be an idea, but that is all original track from my childhood, so ya same track you are thinking Meg, and if the old man left the red joiner in that added a kick!!! and we never heard the word "Spank", i remember the word "Whack!!!", your word didn't come into the picture til 8mm films and Hustler magazines :01:..
I also found a few pieces for the action figures "Big Jim", but my sister took the actual figures itself!!!...
And you want the Truth.... I am not sure but a few of the tracks i wiped off because they were red ...
Even know my basement isn't finished i still put carpet pretty much everywhere, so my boys used to play with Lego on the Ping Pong table, you know how many fucking tiny pieces i stepped on (pardon the pun LOL!!), cleaning the carpet areas !!! And now there is 5 Rubbermaid containers just full of the shit!!!!!
Fuck did my wife have a buying Disorder!! ....

Muuu, after reading this conversation I feel bad about giving away my boombox and JAZ disks when I moved out :emo: I do have a CRT TV I never use, though, if that counts.
Anyway, for a good viewing experience, remember to adjust your tracking control first... and rewind those tapes after you're done. ;)
I'm rewatching all 3 seasons of The Expanse in preparation for S4 on Amazon in December(?). It's a damn good show. It amazes me that it originated on SyFy. I'm just glad Jeff Bezos was a big enough fan to pick it up for at least another two seasons and put it on his service. Now that is ballin'.
I see your boombox and top you with one original Sony Walkman (with original retail box), 1 belt 1 direct drive turntables, Brand new NAD amp that has never left the box...
TV's!!! I had a Sony XBR 32' with a remote swivel stand that i had to take out in 4 pieces because it weighed a fucking ton!!!!!. A 50' projection tv that was sitting in my upstairs hallway, that was light and easy to take out...
Better yet, I put a ton of crap on the end of the driveway and was going to load it up and take it to the dump I woke up in the morning it was all gone:), now i just put stuff there and it disappears (The heavy shit that is)
Whatcha got Anon:boxing:
No turntables here, but my dad did own one and many vinyl records so I totally know what they are, I swear. I did have several Walkmans (Walkmen?), but not the original Sony model, those things were as expensive as they were sturdy. I remember the newer ones had an LCD screen and soft play/pause/rewind buttons in the lid, instead of hard buttons the side. My boombox (which was a Philips AZ1101 if you want to look it up) had the ability to record from radio or CD, and I made several mixtapes with my favorite tracks that way, a couple of which I still have. In any case, I don't miss with the "fun" that was seeking to a specific song on cassettes, and occasionally dealing with entangled tapes.
Oh, and I still have this little jewel, too :)
https://www.radiomuseum.org/r/aiwa_r...es_hr_s01.html
And with the sony walkman, don't forget the tape counter as well, I put batteries in it and it still works mint:), but the headphones foam is kind of fucked!!..
That is amazing Anon!! , today my daughter found a sony diskman, and speaking of Aiwa, i have a walkman that they came out with, and it is the size of the actual cassette tape, and came with a mock cassette that was am/fm radio, and that was the time that the triple AAA batteries came out and were a fucking fortune to buy!!!!...
And speaking of tapes getting eaten, i remember cutting pieces of scotch tape cutting out the damaged area and putting it back together, and praying it would play the few songs that i didn't have on anything else!!! You talk about your dad and records, how about an 8 Track Player?? That is what my older brother had in his car:)
When it came to ghetto blasters, the popular one here if you were a "Pistol Pete" was Pioneer, my brother bought one, he worked for 2 months to pay for it.. It felt like it was as big as me when i was 12:).. And albums!! I have 3 boxes from brother in the basement, mostly disco and a couple of original Beatles...
Truth now, i am just getting rid of all the Cassettes and crap, and i have cases and cases of them!!, really i am never going to use them and if i see one i really liked, i write down everything and can not get everything on the net... Really the only ones i am keeping are a Full Beatles set that was released, and they are still in the sealed plastic:D
The same i don't know what to do with the boxes of VHS tapes?? I don't think there is any value to try to sell them?? I do have a bunch of original Disney movies?? Just so much crap Anon!! , you go downstairs for a few hours and you just get discouraged, because there is so much shit to go through!!, times i just want to call for a garbage bin and throw it all in:idunno:, Really the kids don't want it.....
I had Pink Floyd Wish You Were Here on 8 track. To this day if I play Shine on You Crazy Diamond in my head there's a part where it skips just like it did on the 8 track where it changed tracks.:pinch:
Edit to stay minorly on topic.

Brings back the days being in my brothers 67 GTO, listening to Black Sabbath, and you just have to watch Paul Newman in Slapshot, and that was the exact car, colour and all:)...
I only listen to songs by Gilmore now, since Waters has now become a nutjob and a poster boy for Terrorists:yup:
Guess your're not big on Cat Stevens/Yusuf Islam either then.

You know there's actually a debate about artists like Michael Jackson, whether you should seperate their music from the fact in Jackson's case he's a pedo or whether you should boycott the work.
Was Michael Jackson ever found guilty in the court of law?? We know that OJ was guilty, but did they prove that in a court of law?? I guess it is a debate for the discretion of the Human psyche:unsure:
But when it comes to people no matter what, that advocates and sends out a message that they want to destroy certain people/race or where they live, then i got a problem with that. So the answer to your question is, you can't just isolate Islam for that, considering i don't think Mel Gibson thinks well about them either:)...
And to end this way so i don't get my head chopped off!! I myself being of Jewish faith, I am far from religious, and there are without a doubt religious fanatical nutbags in my faith just like others. The difference here is when you do that math 10% or 17 million is yes a few nutjobs!!!, but once you take 10% or more out of well over Billions in a faith?? Now that can cause some trouble :fear:
And i can tell you there is something wrong with people when i see in the news that they now call people of Jewish faith "White Supremacist" there is something wrong with that picture Idol:idunno:
https://www.jpost.com/Israel-News/Cu...rk-City-468676
And i will add that i don't mute or fast forward Guardians of the Galaxy when his song comes on....
shaina: I'm too lazy to quote your post bit by bit, so I'll answer here :P
Firstly, I've never seen 8-tracks here (in 3D at least), so you win. Thankfully, I've also never had a cassette break on me to the point of having to cut and rejoin tapes à la Tyler Durden. It was always a matter of carefully de-entangling the mess by hand, and then using a pencil to slowly reel it back in.
I wanted a Discman but never had one. As I recall, manufacturers constantly fought over who could offer the biggest buffer length for the anti-shock feature, and cheaper models had only a few seconds or none at all. Anyway, I jumped from the Walkman to a portable MP3 player, a generic one identical to this in color, shape and button layout. 256 MB of storage, double the standard for these models at the time, but I still had to transcode music to make it all fit, and took the time to apply equalizing and other audio enhancements while I was at it.

As for all the stuff you've got, take a weekend to sort it by item category, then snap some pictures and put everything on craigslist, or find local collector clubs for these things and show them what you've got. You'll be surprised at how quickly everything goes away, and to people who will take care of it on top of that.
It is not that the tape ripped Anon, but if the cassette player was sensitive, and it was really wrinkled, it would eat the tape every time so i would splice out that piece and merge it together again. When it came to certain things i was a label and trend guy so Sony was always the big name in things so that was the Diskman i got:)...
Believe it or not when it came to any MP3 style electronics, i jumped to Apple for all of that, and every size you can think of when they came out.
The kids are now sorting out all the shit!!! and labeling all the containers It looks pretty organized downstairs, now i just have to keep shrinking it down. I had a bunch of exercise equipment and sold the Treadmill, the rest i put outside in front and it was gone the next day. Slowly but surely everything i don't want will be gone.....
Anyone loved Battlestar Galactica ?
I liked 11.22.63

All in all, it was a good spiritual sequel to The X-Files. ;)
Im rewatching stargate right now and xfiles. Both are GREATTT
Michael Radford's adaptation of George Orwell's 1984 is a must watch, though it is not as famous as the book. Despite the book's fame, I doubt if many people have read it. It's either subjected to unmitigated praise or unreasonably dull criticism. This is true of the film too. Like all great works of literature, however, 1984 has great sociological value/merit. Some private schools even include 1984 and Brave New World in introductory Sociology and Philosophy modules (not just in Literature classes). The film is a great watch, and it compels me to read the book again.
A doubleplusgood adaptation, indeed. Interestingly, John Hurt would go on to play the polar opposite of that role in V for Vendetta...
