We don't say that the new skin isn't great. We just want it to be fair.Just change the width of this skin and save at as another skin. That the user can choose if they want the 800x600 version or the 1024x760 version.it's realy simple and not much work.
Thanx in advance B)
No, I understand you quite well - you are trying your best. Don't give up - everyone tries his or her best as he or she can. ;) :rolleyes:Quote:

Think about it as a webmaster and not a enduser.
As a webmaster you support the standards meaning you support 800 x 600, you make it load fast for 56 k users and you also lookout for netscape and opera.
Many skins = many work if there are special events like xmas, halloween, eastern etc.
Now that we also offer content (more to come soon) we have to watch that our site has an unique branding. Without that it doesn't work.
Sorry...
omg i can't believe people are fighting over the size of TEXT!
800x600 is bog standard, everyone can use it, alot of people still have older monitors, why bar them from participating?
And if you want evidence i work as a hardware engineer and frequently come across low res monitors (normally when people can't understand why their fancy new graphics card wont work :D )
I personally use one myself on my home network and know plenty of people recycling their old pc's as part of ICS home networks, why make life harder for them because you cant be bothered to adjust your settings, using that logic why not set the site to the maximum resolution possible? Then we lucky few and Bill Gates will be the only ones capable of viewing the site
Does someone read my post ??? Helooooooo !!! it's simple as thatQuote:

I won't do a 1024 x 768 skin.
Reason for this is that we want the forums having the same layout as the main site. It doesn't matter how easy it is - the idea is to have an unique design.
we are asking for two seperate skins, an 800x600 default, and an optional 1024x768, thereby allowing pretty much everyone to access the board properlyQuote:

7th: I think you should listen a little to the members needs to make all people
feeling comfortable. If many people feel good - that is good for all of us especially
you ;)
If you took the time to actually read a couple of the last posts in this thread instead of jumping right in and posting what you think, you would understand a little bit more.Quote:

I understand some people still use 88x600 res. Not everyone. Why bar us by making us use 800x600 res skins? It's not really that hard to do a little editing and save a skin for us 1024x768 users.
I'm glad you work as a hardware engineer, but stick on topic.
Why should we adjust our setting to use 800x600 res when we can have it at a higher res? No were not lazy, we just want the admin to make a skin for us. With two skins, we don't bar anyone from participating.
Right !Quote:

You just forget one thing:
This board is now a part of a website and websites have an own brand. The forums are a part of the websites and the design should be unique.
It is no big deal to make additional skins or to change the size BUT the point is that something has to be done to re-brand the forums and merge them with the site.
If I do higher res. skins then people will ask for different site skins too and that's not a good idea.
We will release more skins but they will all look the same (branding). Only the styles / colors may change. (like a red skin for xmas, yellow for halloween etc)
Like Paul told me today:
If you go left people complain
If you go right people complain
If you go people complain
If you don't go people complain too
Damn, I sure do miss Paul.Quote:

Seriosly though, can't you make it like the old forums where it shaped to fit rez?
:D This is why I said do all this over the Weekend. For the MODs to control all the Chaos. But I have seen that some of them have not been on Duty since all this has gone down. :D
:01: 7th you have to have discipline if you want to run a tight Ship!Warn those who are not willing to Work Overtime! :01:
Well thats frustrating, we ask for something but its rejected because it doesnt fit with an image. We use this forum, we come here every day and we fill it with content, and then when somethings changed and we dont like it, tough. Paul is right, people will always complain, but i didnt see anyone complaining about the old skin.
If you want to be unique, than code your own message board and don't use Invision Power Board. And stop talking about brands, this is not the official Microsoft board with copyrights and stuff. The people want a comfortable place to be, but you just keep talkin about brands.
STOP talking and do something for the user
That's what you say. Once we offer free hosting for file sharing related pages we need our own brand.Quote:

If you don't agree then just look for a place that fits your needs. Maybe some kid forum where the design is IB basic with 150 additional skins to make users happy..
If you look for that try google
I think this leads to nowhere :offtopic:
I liked this board when it was JUST a message board.
Oh well, things change. ;)
heh yeah... when the only reason i came was to chat in the lounge and snag some verifieds :PQuote:

now i come and i have to squint to see when its all been squashed in the middle of the screen.
Tell me, whats wrong with an adaptable skin, like before?
So you support them but not the majority of people...Quote:

The board is optimized for 800 x 600 - that's why there are blue bars. We now support 56k users and 800 x 600 (screen res.) users.
I want my old skins back that take up the whole screen..looks MUCH better..i always used the invision powerboard one..the defualt one.
Which is more important: "Unique Style" or users opinions?
7th, you referred earlier to this as "our" forum.
Why aren't you listening to at least 50% of the people's needs?
Just change it back to how it was before if possible...the new things by the threads are hard to see weather or not its got new replies...the other one was very easy to tell....i want the other one back
http://www.home.no/brand/stat1.pnghttp://www.home.no/brand/stat.png
65% of the board uses 1024 x 768 or higher...what the hell is going on?
Well there it is there, I suggest you all give up because this ain't about a community anymore, nor do any of you have any say in the matter. Take it or leave it. I thought, or at least felt we were a part of a family here and that simple things like this would not cause such irritation, though it seems 7th has made it clear to us where he stands and where we do, sometimes being stubborn just has no pay out in the end my friend, only destuction is at hand...Quote:

im glad that there arent many, but im not surprised
this board is dead to me

It's all been said right there.
yep, not about community, about his website.
I use 1152x864.
It looks really bad like this.
I think it looks great. Very unique and has a nice simplistic style to it. Well done whoever did it! :D
cant you do a 800 x 600 version and a 1024 x 768 version?
7th pushed this one to far.
and with this new crappy skin its almost impossible to spot polls.
and these paper smileys suck.
those damned bars, and we get in trouble if we try to stretch the page out.
a minority uses 800 x 600 and they get the benefits.
and it all has to do with 7th's site. not us.
Wow I thought I had it bad at 1024 x 768.Quote:

I switched to 1152 x 864, and man there is about 3 inches of nothing on the sides. :o
I'd like to see more mod reactions. Apart from Virtualbody, no mods have commented on the change.
I honestly dont know what all the fuss is about. When this came up I just went and changed my resolution to the lower one. I wont have to suffer those big wide pics again. :)
*Azzz agrees :)Quote:

Edited before it gets confusing :)
