i use limewire for old crap now

kazaa is polluted with fake bullshit and spyware and viruses and crazy hobos

im using kazaa lite...

I still use Kazaa Lite K++. There are still some good, non-corrupted files floating there.

I use Limewire

kazaa lite is so so. i prefer bittorent by far

dont use it anymore, used to use limewire but switched to bearshare for the odd mp3, use BT and eMule for everything else, oh and of course i do still buy stuff from shops.

am i getting old?

Is there add-on software to anonymize Shareaza / hide user's IP?

I use LimeWire now...too many fakes on Kazaalite these days :(
And I do buy music and DVDs as well.

I still use K++ 2.4.3 and still love it.
I've tried so many other p2p programs and hated em all.
Although I do use BitTorrent quite often.

Because of how KaZaA has not been able to control these fake files I rarely use it any more. I won't say what I have switched to because I don't want the same thing to happen there.

Never would have thought that this thread would be what it is today, but I'm glad it is. Months have passed by and believe it or not a lot has changed since the birth of this post but one thing remains certain, Kazaa/etc. and the Fastrack network is the same maybe even worse now. My best advise to anyone using Kazaa or those of you that are thinking of using it, DO NOT USE KAZAA!! I have an opinion like everyone else in this world, but it's your choice. I have made a new list of "Hot Applications" you guys might be interested in:

First runner up is:

1.) BITTORRENT-an amazing free program to strategically download and effectively upload files. The files can be movies, albums, pictures, documents, software and more.

The Pros: You can download huge files for free that usually cost money. You dont have to wait until a (file) comes out in stores for sale. Fast speed downloads, and 1 of 1000 chance of a fake file (my personal estimate). Easy to use program. A lot of sites to download files from.

Cons: The BIG Corporation companies such as RIAA/MPAA has tried crackin down on Bittorrent. Some files are bundled with major adware/spyware, but usually your asked to install something (if you have to install something to watch a video, do not do it and delete the file immediatley). It's hard for some people to find bittorrent sites:http://filesharingtalk.com/vb3/t89539.html. Sometimes the file you want is not always listed to download, but requesting it to sites might help. You have to register to sites in order to download and a lot of sites are full.

2.) LIMEWIRE-a year 2000 KaZaa like application with it's easy to use interface. Perfect to Newbie's and for advance users.

i think limewire is the best bet for individual mp3s and stuff. irc for full albums. and usenet for movies and tv shows. bittorrent is way to slow most of the time for me. i like my movies in around an hour, not 5 or more like it can sometimes take on bt.

NO but kazaa is still the best when it comes to testing ones antivirus....

I use ares and limewire for music. Kazaa man that i stopped that shit like 2 years ago. I use bittorrent for tv shows games movies and software. I love it cause i start downloading a game or movie at night then goto sleep wake up and its done yay.

Wow, I haven't used kazaa in such a long time i'm getting all nostalgic even thinking about it! Funny how things look a lot less useless when you look back...

i used k-lite the other day to download wolfenstein enemy terrority because when i tried downloading via http it died at 85%.

I'll say, I use KLTK++ 2.5 and I find it is good, there are 2.9M users on right now. I have no problems with fake files well hardly any, maybe that's because I usually just dl porn and no-one can be bothered to make a fake porn file I guess, unless you count all the silly 1kb 2kb up to 11kb files which are nothing but a grey picture saying something like adult-pages.com but you soon learn to ignore those. There are a lot of crap files too which are just adverts for porn sites, such as ideepthroat.com and these are really annoying, but they just get deleted. Can I also say that this version comes with a lot of default filtration, which stops a lot of the virus stuff and the nasty porn coming up in searches. Maybe that's why I rarely see these problems, I have actually never seen a virus on kazaa!

On the rare occasions I dl something other than porn a song for example, I have never had a fake file.

I stick to Kazaa, because I don't like having to get used to new technology, I like to stick to what I know how to work. I am considering Bittorrent because there is a file on there which I would like. and it isn't on Kazaa.

Surely it is only a matter of time before all fake files start to appear on these other platforms.

Having said this I just dl'd a file of the mash theme tune, and when I play it real player just freezes up, I suppose this is what you might call a fake file, I prefer to think of it as a corrupt file until proven otherwise.....edit: It was just my computer being wacky, I did a reboot and the file is fine.

Instead of just posting some link, why don't you say why you think your new version of kazaa viewer is any better, does it somehow filter out the trash? if so how does it do it?

Other platforms have superior file-hashing than kazaa, and will create the hash using the whole file, not just the first 300kb (or whatever), so it's not as easy to create fake sources on other networks, as it is on Kazaa.

No! all my downloads were always currupt!
I only go Emule or Bitorrent. Emule is the best right now...you find anything, plus the speeds are much better with KAD now of days. I got 20-50kb/s average.

im not using any type of kazaa anymore, im happy with Ares and eXeem, what more could a young lad hope for :P

eXeem is also virus/fake infested, similarly to the FastTrack network, I'd suggest just using private bittorrent sites and using a normal torrent client. I highly recommend switching to a Gnutella2 client, it's the fastest network of it's sort around. It's main client is of course Shareaza, which can connect to Gnutella2 (G2), Gnutella, ed2k and protocols like BitTorrent, HTTP and FTP.

although ed2k is the most popular network right now, the network is poorly constructed. The speeds may be pretty good but that's onyl if you get a slot, and getting a slot of pretty damn hard... wait a week and maybe you'll get one ;)
G2 on the other hand is quite new, probably the newest network around. It's queues are much smaller and it's a way better network than ed2k, not to mention Kazaa...

I was using Kazaa resurection for a bit but dumped it when the RIAA started issuing lawsuits against users, I get everything off Torrent sites now.
