I have to say that I understood your point and while it's something I agree with, I see nothing wrong with testing the theory for glitches.
For example, mbm did get through earlier when he said about showing the thread to his wife and kids. I like to think too that when I reiterated that the police would come to his house and his family would in all probability be made aware of his shenanigans should he go to her place again and give her cause to report him, it gave him pause.

Also; I believe that you reaching that conclusion in the way you did is the dictionary definition of empathy.

You know I had to look it up to verify, but you're indeed right about this. I've been handling the term empathy with the definition of sympathy. Now that I've unsnarled them, why have I been accused multiple times of not having any empathy?! I'm oozing with it.
