I think it is better to trade than to make friends for getting into any tracker this can be called sentimental trading.

I could have joined it before 3 years when FTN was a ratio based tracker. but i have been in and out of this torrent world, and as it was a ratio based tracker i did not join it then.

More over I recently joined the torrent world before 1 year or so, my most accounts are just 6 to 4 months old. I just got back and asked my friends and they helped me out with most of the Invites, but nobody is on FTN. one or two guys have it but i generally don't talk to them much as they are now mods of various places and i feel their behavior has changed a lot, so i don't ask them for help ;)

I also have nearly 30 to 35 trackers, i have made an excel file in which i have written all the url.

But i don't need to worry much about accounts as i share them with my gf and my other two pals who are living next to me and we share the same net connection. so maintaining an account is not so difficult.

I only use docsepia, bitspyder, learnbits, bcg, bg mostly and some ratioless movie trackers.

I have a local presence,as I am the main cause for the melting, but they dislike my presence. Also I have about 50 I actually use, and 100s of unused.

5 trackers, of course I've tried out a bunch of others but none that really had me gaping at how I could have missed out on such an awesome place.

Although, lately I joined a couple like goem/myanonymouse (so technically 7) and am enjoying both quite a bit.

On a completely random note (i figured id ask cuz this thread is spam anyways) why are ppl obsessed with the whole l33tness factor behind certain trackers, Ex. FTN when it has been said countless times that other trackers such as GFT(i think thats the right one) offer basically the same thing just without the exclusivity? and plz dont say community because honestly if you want good community make real friends, possibly get laid etc

also #2 why do ppl scrutinize ppl making simple requests so mercilessly. I see this mostly in the case of e-learning trackers like bitme.
I understand making sure they arent traders and/or possibly getting their reasonings but why ask when a lot of the time the ppl arent even considering giving ppl an invite they just want to throw their reasons back in their faces and feel superior because they are in and others arent
o boy your e-peen is bigger than mine dont you feel special... Idk i just dont understand these things and it pisses me off i really just wish people would focus on the whole ideal of filesharing and this goes for every1 i think trading/selling etc goes against the whole idea also and view them as even lower than the previously aforementioned assholes but thats a whole different discussion

Not all people are obsessed with rarity, you know. The more sensible people realize that it doesn't matter. While rarity collectors tout the security horn, it's simply not true. Believe me when I say, a level 100 tracker can and will be infiltrated by the RIAA/MPAA should they wish to. The way laws/acts are coming out, too, we should all be severely limited on torrenting soon enough.

What I'm getting as, remember as a kid when you were interested in collecting bottle caps/coins/stamps/pokemon cards et cetera? The whole point was to have the rarer ones, so you could feel good. Unfortunately, people carried over that "Gotta Catch 'Em All" mentality to a protocol that doesn't need such ideologies. I've been offered FTN/TT/E a few times each, and always turned it down, because I have no use for them. Other people refuse to let their e-ego down and simply want to prove that they have good connections/know their way around exclusive uncharted lands, which is perfectly acceptable as long as they don't make it their actual dream.

I do it because in the spirit of file sharing, I'd rather give my invite to someone who will use the tracker, who will enjoy the tracker, and who will be a true asset to the community. I have no interest in anyone who just wants to have the tracker in their bookmarks bar, I'd rather someone who will enjoy it, use it, and be grateful (for the service the tracker offers, not for my favor) for it.
