What Trackers Are Worth [With Reviews and Ratings] Part 1

This is a comment I made in the Swebits open thread but I think it applies here as well:"I guess Swebits just went into the state it was until December: it's closed until some places are open for people to sign up.. That was the case until then and I guess that "completely closed" didn't work too well so they returned to this system it had before (and other sites too: Powerbits,Piratebits,Swepiracy,Snowtigers etc.)...."
Therefore I think rarity for all of the above sites shouldn't be above 2.5 unless something is really changed..

swebits owners say "stay level4",
others say "down to level2,cuz they open signups"... :lol:

Lol that's so true :D If someone has a tracker he says it should go up, if he doesn;t he says it should go down.. The fact is that in the end this list serves as a help system or something like that.. Real trade value usually shows in actual offers/trades done.. [example: FTN and FB are supposedly of equal value(4.5) , yet I don;t think anyone would give his ftn for fb... And so many other examples(same level in list): BitmeTV/The Place comparing to IT, HDBits comparing to almost all other 3 level sites etc....]...

Of course some people do take as an 100% guide the list(usually newbies, not their fault though) so if for example tomorrow someone adds a completely unkown to everyone tracker in the list as a 4, I;m pretty sure there will be some people who will trade their other "4s" just because they think it's of same value.. Anyway it's a long discussion and I don't think it will go anywhere :(

it was open for about 5mins. I dont think that justifies a drop of 2 levels. Maybe put it down to 3/3.5 but definitely not 2, unless it opens again for a longer period

It doesn't drop 2 entire levels just with a small signup where almost noone registered. I agree that it can be down but not level 2.. maybe 3,5 if there is not other signup ;)

It's time to realize that there's still open signups. Accounts are pruned and new accounts can be created. Just like TorrentBytes, and it's at level 2.5. When tracker is full, it doesn't mean that it's closed for signups.

i think swebits didn't open for long time and few could signup
i think its level 3 or 3.5

the signup is closed it's not opened

it opens for a sec and close ultrarapid

i think fsc is 4

and rp should be 3.5 ( i don't have it)

how about making the rating system out of 10? I know that with the 0.5levels intervals there are technically 9 different levels but this has a flaw at the higher levels. For instance, sct and uk-t are both level 5 but there is no way they are both the same rarity. There have been at least 4 sct for trade in the last week and i havent seen 1 uk-t in a long time. So it could be something like

Level 8: Exigo, FB etc

Level 9: ScT (maybe even FTWR)

Level 10: uk-t

Yeah, I guess we could... but a lot of people here are already familiar with the current up-to-5 rating system.

P.S: There are only 9 discreet levels because level 1.5 doesn't exist. I copied the rating system from SyD's thread from way back so don't ask me why it doesn't exist :p

There are actually 8 levels, and what I think we really need is 5.5 lvl but sounds absurd, so the 10 lvl idea sounds actually really cool and more realistic

current 5 level system is ok and easy,because tracker's [Rating] system is the same.if you change level system to 1-10,[Rating] system must be change to 1-10 and it's difficult.

While I also would prefer a simple 1-10 scale for both rarity and content, I can live with the current levels. How about creating a poll to see if people want to change? And say if > 65% of the pollsters are required, then make the change?

a scale of 10 is way too complicated and unnecessary
1 to 5 is fine even without the 0.5 subgroups

this post is not being updated and it should be totally renewed
input from posters is not being taken into consideration i don't see anything changing as trackers open and close signup or invites

it's wrong and should not be relied on in judging trackers
whoever gave KG 3.5 for content and Pedro's 3 obviously knows nothing about movies or music

speed and content should be separated because they are two totally different things
