What is the latest movie you watched and what did you think of it?

I had to use the skip button multiple times since the characters sucked and the story arcs were boring. Good special effects though!

27 Dresses. Meh. But they did say cock once so it wasn't all 'aww'.

hmm it was alright. Idea of teleportation was great but acting accompanied by weak story proved to be movie's downfall.

Capote- well acted but essentially boring.

Grindhouse- mildly amusing, completely over the top cliched gore.

Die Hard- the gold standard of action movies. Willis and Rickman at the very top of their games.

X-Men, The Last Stand- please, just let this franchise die.

Any thoughts on this caper? I gotta say I thought it was thought-provoking, to say the least. Not that I agree with murder, *SPOILER ALERT, READ NO FURTHER IF YOU HAVEN'T SEEN THE FLICK*, especially when the main character whom we percieve as being "good" does it. There's also those suicides from the soldiers.. morally ambiguous there if you ask me

I didn't like that wild insane lady barking Old Testament lines out of her mouth like she was some sort of prophet, which is completely ridiculous (she was just a nutter).

The movie itself has some pretty seriously cool action and CGI. Very entertaining, kept me on the edge of my seat for most of it, I found myself shouting out "Get the F*CK OUTTA THERE PEOPLE!" for most of it :p


I'll give it a 7,5/10. It has a slow start, and some underpar acting to start it off, but it gradually builds pace, and the overall flick deserves the rating. It's well put up.

Monster- Charlize Theron deservedly won the Oscar for her portrayal of a profoundly damaged hooker who becomes a serial killer. Amazing.

The Hoax- interesting "true story" of Clifford Irving's Howard Hughes biography hoax.
Richard Gere shows how such a preposterous fake could really happen- a lot of charm, a set of balls and the refusal to back down and viola!, you're rich.

The Lion in Winter- Catherine Hepburn and Peter O'Toole face off and shred each other and the British royal family. Classic Hollywood at it's best.

Latcho Drom - Tony Gatlif.

This movie, was for me, equal parts revelation and disappointment. Let me explain. The film seeks to trace the thread of migration taken by the Roma (gypsies), many centuries ago, from india, to egypt, romania, spain and other places. And how does it do this? Not in a boring documentary format (yes, that's right, the kind of films that only other filmmakers watch..:) but as a musical. And this is the movie's strength...the music is quite a revelation, and will offer something refreshing even to ears seasoned with "world" music fare.
The movie, in itself, is a total letdown...it looks great, the cinematography is colourful and expressive at times, and agree with me or not, these are exactly the things that make the movie fall many notches in my eyes. A cosmetic beauty, with all its attendant sugar-coatedness, comes across more powerfully than any sense of experiencing truth.
My suggestion: Forget the movie...listen to the music. if you're thinking, hey, then i can just get the soundtrack, well, go ahead. Fair enough!

Juno. And Ellen Page gave a truly refreshing performance,one of the best i've seen.She deserved an oscar IMO.

The only reason Ellen Page didn't get anything is because the person "Juno" in the movie "Juno" is actually also the person "Ellen Page" in the movie "Real Life".

Last movie i saw was "La Antena" and for sure became a favourite one!

Die Hard 2: Die Harder- Absolute rubbish. More noise, more flash, less heart, less smarts.

Cabaret- Jeez, Liza Minnelli was hot in 1972! A great movie, see it along with Chicago for a master class in how a musical should be done.

The Devil Wears Prada- Completely predictable storyline saved by Meryl Streep's understated performance and Anne Hathaway's babe quotient.

Last movie I watched was Street Kings, it was decent. Rather predictable but still a decent movie.

The Insider (1999) - Very good movie with Al Pacino and Russell Crowe. It lasts 2 hours and 26 minutes but every minute is worth it. The movie never loses pace, and the acting is stupendous, by all parts.

9.2/10 IMO

I watched national treasure 2 on the weekend. I did like it but it was very similar to the first one.

Iron Man - pretty fun, IMO.

Jackie Brown - intense, complex and ultimately brilliant flick, courtesy of Quentin Tarantino productions.

Iron Man as well. Great movie, well worth the $10.

Great documentary on Italian Film.

E.T.-What can I say...a classic.
The Last Mimzy- Probably a future cult classic...cute kids and Rainn Wilson.
Patton- George C. Scott chews up the scenery like Patton chewed up Europe. Three hours long with an intermission! (never seen that on a DVD...). Opening scene is priceless.
Solaris- Wish I could have enjoyed it more. Somewhat tedious, reminded me of The Fountain.
Bonny and Clyde- very controversial when released, the bloom has somewhat faded.
Beatty and Dunaway are good actors but way too beautiful compared to the rest of the cast. On the other hand, it does feature Michael J. Pollard and Gene Hackman, two wonderful character actors (even if Pollard always seems to be playing himself somehow).

I re-watched Trainspotting, and enjoyed it!
