If I try to argue that dishwashers can be just as ubiquitous, it only serves to point out how little contact I may have had with condoms. If you were to argue that dishwashers can be 'just as ubiquitous', I'd point out that you're tempering an absolute and you'd retort by saying my 'fairly ubiquitous' comment started the downward slide.

Our readers would have nothing to aspire to and subsequently enter a state of mild despair - and then those self-same people may start to take liberties with the written word.
