Thank you for all your suggestions, before settling down on any of these I'll try DivX player too.

If you are not concerned with memory usage, you might want to take a look at http://www.jriver.com/ Pretty much handles anything & can be used as a DLNA server too.

definitely VLC, works like a charm!

i suggest you ,you use the flash player or vlc. its better for you desire.

Foobar is highly customizable,
How itunes should look and feel if it was add free and didn't give a shit about charts ringtones and marketing.

MPC home cinema is ok.
