I got a kick out of the article in the SFExaminer. At least three readers wrote that the measures were "communist". Meanwhile, Alberta (the Canadian Province of that name) announced its own measures, including cancelling weddings and funerals. I hope they get called communist too. Nothing the alt-right (by Canadian standards) likes more than being called communist. "Totalitarian" is also speculative, but at least it gets across the meaning of the objection.

Oh, I have no beef with that, even if it is a personal inconvenience. However, wouldn't it have been nice if he had done so, oh, maybe two or three weeks earlier rather than calling it a "democratic hoax" and a "deep state conspiracy"? I guess Hannity on Fox news finally got around to recognizing and telling people how serious the situation is, after lying to his audience (who, by the way, being of the older variety is most susceptible to the virus) -- in a just world the guy would be put in jail for at least negligent homicide. Because there is no doubt that someone will die because of his bullshit propaganda.

Like who? Fauci? Sure, but his message for the longest time has very much diverged from what The Donald has been saying. "Dr." Ben Carson? Just because he is on stage and stands behind Donald does not make him an authority in this case -- he's a surgeon and not an expert on pandemics. The experts that were in government, like the pandemic office that was part of the National Security Council got shitcanned. But as Donald said, he does not know anything about that, so he's not responsible. You know, it's like Truman said: "The buck stops with that guy over there. I'm not responsible." Or something like that.
