Use the arrow keys on your keyboard it's much easier than the mouse.
Hold down the 'down arrow' until the arm is raised then hit the 'up button'. It should be a fluid motion, don't take your time. Just keep practicing once you get it right you'll be doing it every time. I hardly ever miss now.
You can always "wimp out" by pressing 'escape' and selecting the option. Costs you a small amount of cash though but it lets you play on as if you had won.

They're right though, the game was crap. But stricktly for gameplay reasons.
