Season 1 - 10/10
Season 2 - 7/10
Season 3 - 9/10
Season 4 - 6/10
First season of Dexter got me addicted to it while the last season
was a blast for me. The best season ever though I see a lot of you
don't like it. It was different as in previous seasons. Before the audience didn't know who is the murderer and Dexter killed him at the end of the season but he knew who was Trinity from the beginning and he didn't want to kill him imediately cuz he wanted to learn from Trinity. He really developed his character and this was what made a great season for me.
Trinity was easily the best of the Dexter villains, character-wise and acting-wise. I actually wanted him to get away so that he could reappear in the new season.
Is the new season scheduled to start on time? I read Michael C. Hall was undergoing cancer treatment.
:shuriken:
yeah, he had a cancer (lymph..something) but they said he was better
i surelly hope so, it`s a best show alongside with breaking bad
It is nice to know that the cancer is now in remission and that he is okay. It would have been a shame to cancel the show, let alone, him pass away. I think he is an incredible actor. I cannot wait to see Dexter season 5. I am sure it will be as good as all the others.
Totally love the show

Season 5 has started!
Yeah!! Finaly
that show rock
Didn't like the first ep of season 5.
What a good start to the season. Hopefully the action gets going right away, unlike the past, what...2 seasons?
From someone who hasn't followed the series on a regular basis( think like 3 episodes in the preceding four years) but watched episode one in it's entirety,a of couple layman's observations.
1. Nice direction especially the opening few minutes where the camera is used in a certain ways to give a strange dissociating effect sort of like what ( I'm assuming) a true psychopath feels ...errrr doesn't feel.
2. How come no one sees how strange Dexter Morgan is?
Even with the excuse of the trauma of his wife being murdered, I think people would be more likely to be calling for the guys with nets and straight-jackets to come pick him up than protecting him or saying what " a great guy" he is?
Yes it's fiction but I mean come-on.
Well I think some picked up on it, even Debra his sister thought he was acting totally strange, but then you had the cop who is her partner Quinn I think his name, who knew something was up, then again he has been hot on Dexter since last season. So this jsut added fuel to the fire.
I thought it was weird how Debra and Quinn had sex right there in the kitchen in his house, you would think that would be a bit weird since she was just killed there...but then again I guess it was a heat of the moment due to stress.
Well, I won't worry about the sex thing, guess you either get that or you don't.
Regarding how weird Dexter is...you would have needed to see more episodes (keep in mind, we are on the 5th season here) to appreciate Dexter's character development that we've seen over time. The guy hides his 'true nature' pretty well and only the audience is aware of it. He was way off his rocker internally in that first episode, but you would think his friends/family are willing to give him the benefit of the doubt on that one...the guy's wife was just brutally murdered by a serial killer, yah know? About Quinn, this obviously reminds us a lot of the situation with Doakes. I think we can expect a similar outcome.
Anyone noticed the reference to Six Feet Under in the funeral home? It was like David Fisher sitting at the other side of the table. The scene was even shot in a style reminiscent of that series, and fans would of course recognize that moment where the man passes the tissue box over to Dexter. Dexter’s internal monologue questioning how the man can be so empathetic is also highly reminiscent of conversations between David and his brother, Nate, and their partner, Federico, over the course of Six Feet Under.
The first episode has caused me to believe that I could end up dropping this series after the 3rd episode. I'm not sure I like the way they're doing this...
- Repeat Doakes
- How Dexter has deep feelings
- Who's arching him this season?
Yeah, big agreement on the first two posts. This does seem like a cookie cutter replica of Doakes, kinda boring so far.
Best tv show i have ever see.
yeah .. same opinion ... best tv show ...in my playlist
Dexter is simply the best out there.
Recommended.
besides the fact that every character other than Dexter is horribly written, it is still one of best shows on TV, which says a lot more about the current state of TV than it does about how good the show is
i watch all parts ..untill now
the best serial ..i watch very day :))
Is Dexter one of few shows that has increasing ratings? Pretty amazing feat after five seasons.
Does anyone else feel that the previous episode (S05E11) was a little bit too predictable? Almost a bit lame that the whole thing with Liddy went Dexters way. With that little drop of blood on Quinns shoes Dexter danced around his problems once again.
The season finale was nothing but one cop-out after another. For a series that is suppose to be edgy they took the "safest" way out of everything . Even the big "shock" wasn't since they spent the previous at least two episodes setting it up.
Anyway as my first season of Dexter I found it incredibly uneven ,some briefly truly great stuff here ( the shot of him crawling from the car was truly claustrophobic) only to be diluted by, as Thatsgreat said , the utterly predictable .
So many ways that episode could have turned seriously nasty but in the end it played out like ever other trite, palatable to the masses serial on network TV albeit with just a little more blood.
Spoiler: ShowI don't know if the producers were just frighted ,after the events of last season, of turning off some viewers or maybe they felt that in a way it would have been repeating themselves but imagine the nasty turns that could have taken place if Dexter had killed Quinn? Or if Deb had killed Lumen ? - Lumen was obviously "dead meat anyway. Or even if Dex had failed to save her? - still predictable sure but a great way to further open up his dark side.Next season could have been partly about a monster that had some measure of redemption in his grasp and losing it goes seriously medieval on himself/the world
Spoiler: ShowDeb killing Lumin would have been interesting. Instead, we get, "Sorry, gotta go..." I was at least hoping for Lumin to stay, and have to be put down like Old Yeller. :P
This season fell short of the high-bar placed in every previous season.
The season was too good imo. Never enjoyed it more. Awesome!
It was a strange season all the way through. Not a lot of killing. He didn't even take a blood sample of Jordan Chase after they killed him ffs.
I wouldn't say it was a bad season by any means, but just.... different.
And Aster has grown up. :O
Agreed on all parts, but especially the Astor comment. I thought it was more than a little creepy how they "dolled" her up in the last ep. At least she isn't stuck in the whiny, tumultuous teen thing. Rita pushed the whiny wife character to the edge of unwatchable- then she got nice. Then *boom* bathtub. :O
I still haven't quite decided how I feel about this last season. I found it very uneven. Liddy was enjoyable. Dexter seems to have forgotten even the basic tenets of The Code except when it suits him. Unsure if this is characterisation or sloppy writing; the recon missions with Lumen were incredibly sloppy/amateurish.
:shuriken:
looking forward new season. I wish there were at least 22 episodes in one season. it is too short.
last season was very good except liddy's death. at first I thought that Liddy will join dexter and work together because he did not suit the code. another one that liddy caught dexter instead dexter caught him. Dexter should be more careful anymore I think, otherwise anybody can disclose his secret. should not be that simple
ok just started watching this guy.
Jumped into the last season 5.and took a peek at first one.
Which seasons are a must if i'm going to see any more?
Thanks
season 1 is a must. season 2 is good enough and it falls apart mildly in season 3 & 4.
Merci
Season 4 is fantastic for John Lithgow's work as Trinity. By far my favourite Dexter antagonist.
