When you generate your keyword, REMEMBER IT, write it down somewhere, as long you don't forget it! IF you forget it, you won't be able to login in the future. You will NEED IT when the fake page is setup, which will happen in the future, I don't know when, but pretty soon. So generate, remember it, and wait for when the fake page is setup.

Why even give people another chance? If someone is too thick follow instruction before a deadline, do you really want them on your tracker anyway?
In my opinion, 22000 users is too much for any tracker to lose, except maybe Demonoid :P

I don't know how the global announce didn't show for people, I think people just ignored it. It shows up regardless of which page your on (browse for example) and makes you click a link to clear it out... It shows up for me on IE and FF, so....

Probably not, but I always clear them as I see them, they make me scroll too much and its annoying. I guess if you never clear them, you'll have the oldest important announcement there, but its up to you to read them and follow the directions (clear them)
Well actually, the more I think about this, the more I think that the ones saying that the announcement didn't show up for them may be telling the truth. I remember a couple months ago everyone in the BCG forums were talking about a specific announcement that was made on the home page. Looking at my pm box, there was no pm from a month ago, I save most pm's, there are two pm's regarding the annoucement dated 9/22, they are identical and obviously sent AFTER the mass disabling. My ISP disabled me again 2 weeks ago, just got back on now and see all hell has broken loose.
My inbox here is full, with HELP!! my account has been disabled, and I do not have the time or the inclination to go through and answer every single one.
so what i will do is, delete all my messages, and if anyone is still having problems, send me a new PM tomorrow and if i get time i will look into it for you, but as it stands atm, i know less than everyone here (I have not even read any of this thread, I quite literally got back online 2 minutes ago)

Well i have just been reading up on things.
The staff took a ton of abuse when all this happened, in our IRC channel, so the staff decided to re-enable everyone, and give everyone an extra week.
what gets me is.
1. We sent out at least 1 announcement about this, maybe even 3-4 i cant remember now.
2: How anyone can visit the site with an old announcement still stareing them in the face, that they have not cleared. you have to clear them to see the next one.
3: News Items on the home page.
4: I tried to send 2 emails, but they only went to the first 5,000 members and did not go any further for some strange reason, but then i would gather most members used an email that they cant get to anyway, so pretty pointless even trying that.
5: We took the mass PM function off in favour of the announcement mod, storing 50,000 PMs on every mass PM is a big hit to the db, for size especially.
6: We said we were going to do it on the 15th September, so you got an extra week from what we said originally, and still 22,000 did not do it, it just boggles the mind.
In all honesty, if i was around at the time, then all those 22,000 would definately have not got their account back, everyone has had plenty of time, and if you do not view the news page, clear old announcements, or come to the forum, then tough shit.
so you are lucky i was not around at the time.

Well according to alt, LOTS!! were prepared to pay to get their accounts back, he claims he could have made a fortune, he said he was pleased he just disabled them and not deleted them though (well in hindsight at the time he said he wanted to delete them).
I was not around so I never seen all the crap that was posted in our IRC, but seemingly some of the staff were having a laugh with some of the ones that got disabled, i am not sure how much of a laugh or how it went down exactly, but as alt called it, Beer Games with them, so it wasnt fair to enable some and keep others disabled, so he just re-enabled everyone.
This weekend though, he is going to delete them, those that have not generated their keyword. so if they come and complain there is absolutely nothing we can do about it at all, but we have give all members every oportunity to sort their accounts out, but i bet there is still 15,000 that have not, and we will go through all of this again in a couple of days. :(
people who ignored all this announcements, PMs, threads, etc etc etc shouldn't be members of the tracker any longer. as stoi said, tough shit, but i know for sure that if it had happened with me, no one was going to get their accounts back.
If I were you stoi I think I'd book a weeks holiday....leaving on 28th September :lol: or stick around and just have a good supply of paracetamol for next monday.
Just reading the forums on bcg will give you a headache. Some of the really dumb questions about this keyword are unbelievable. New heights of dumbness abound!
I can't wait till the 28th and see how many pinheads still haven't generated their keyword.
If all you do is go straight to the browse page and never even look at the news page one time in a whole month then I would guess you aren't a good member of that tracker and you deserve to get your ass kicked the hell outta there.
thats the thing ... even if you DO go straight to the browse page via bookmark you still don't miss the announcements that come up... they show up on the browse page until you "clear" them.Quote:

That forum thread shows you the fake page and how to use it.
Now, without the fake page, and without the keyword, we cannot get the referal system in place, as the referal system uses the fake page for your referee to input his referal code.
so the sooner we get the keyword worked out for most members, the sooner we can get the referal system in place (after some testing of course).
and we just sent out another mass PM, there are now just over 10,000 members that have not got their keyword.
That's actually a nice looking fake page.
Crikey, this'll teach me not to read announcements. LOL. Just reading this thread now is the first I've heard about this. So I've just created my Keyword now, thank god I haven't lost my account.
I check my BCG account about once a week too, so I havent a clue how I didn't know about this.

If you did not do your Keyword, tough, you have had plenty of time to do it.
you will just have to try to get back in with our referal system.
and hopefully if you do, you will keep more up to date with news items and mass announcements and global announcements in the forum.

i think the fake page is a great idea and won't find it a problem at all. being without bcg would be far worse a problem.
