It's probably not a coincidence that most of those trackers don't exist anymore either.
we're rebuilding!
use hexchat.
do you think you will ever catch up bozboy? you guys have entirely missed the wave of momentum.
Besides, it's not What.cd... :(
Mehhhh, that sucks.
So what's supposed to be the next What, xanax? Gotta love that benzo name...
Wish I would have used up that buffer at What. Or at least snatched what was in my bookmarks.
Too many of them :)
apollo.rip (xanax)
notwhat.cd
nostre.am
passtheheadphones.me
I think this is escaped resources organized by moderators. Now and then there appear old releasers with what.cd
It's like a workout. I think the what.cd will return quietly, without Publicity for the same domain in the next year. Just need to periodically check the old address. I do not lose hope :)
Kinda sad that at least three of those you mention have no ambition or imagination beyond being a What.cd clone.
I got an invite to PtH, out of sheer dumb curiosity and when I logged in for the first time it was literally like being on What again.
Most bt-type people would look at that as good thing but What.cd never was a very good place for the average, normal, sane person like myself who just liked music and didn't get all spastic about everything having to be "perfect" 24 bit FLAC and spending half your life uploading a ton of shite albums to try and maintain a ratio.

http://filesharingtalk.com/threads/4...orrent-website
Looking forward to a 2017 edition of these :)
I saw them referred to as the Cult of What...I like this and will probably start using it.
They really are still stuck back in Oink mode when most people had adsl and few had even heard of seedboxes which was a time that was ripe for a hard ratio site. The Cultists have no intention of changing and are stuck in that 2005 mindset. As idol says they are trying to recreate What and this alone is scary, recreate their Cults temple, and if you challenge the belief of the Cult you are an enemy of the Cult.
On the other hand, I buffered pth and apollo up so will never need to worry about ratio on them. Works for me. :P
One of the big changes is in the fact that there is currently not the same monopoly that What had and I hope it stays this way as it will be better for casual users who are able to move between them for the best deal, the best bang for their upload buck.
hmm so I've already hit the whatcd standard prereqs for "elite" on Apollo.rip, in terms of uploads (50 in perfect flacs so it can't be disputed to be mutt rips), and upload data (250 gigs). wonder if that's enough proof for PTH axx.
i mean who the hell keeps screenshots of their whatcd stats to prove they were former Elite+, unless they are traders or weirdos. I'm sure my proof on xanax is more reputable right???
1000possibleclaws, I registered at all four sites and all required profiles and screenshots of the picture uTorrent with albums.
http://pastebin.com/raw/aPE2FtLv
rip i have no screenshots of whatcd
In total seriousness, I don't know why anyone would want to be a member of a site run by assholes like that.
Torrent sites literally bring out the very worst in people, which is sad seeing as "sharing" should be bringing out the best. Or maybe I've got it backward and they just attract the worst type of person.
Alternately may I strongly suggest that you ( and others) instead work to try to make Apollo the best site it can be and maybe it will in time surpass PtDouche. Life is too short to live with much regret.
Also you're all clearly brainwashed as I'm reasonably sure that no one short of a sound engineer should know, let along care what "perfect flacs so it can't be disputed to be mutt rips" means.
Then again I'm more along the lines of artists who understand that perfection is boring as fuck anyway.
I was a member of What from the first week, but have no proof of it. Don't really give a shit either. I got into Apollo during the open reg, and have a nice buffer now, so I couldn't care less. Hopefully, it'll stick around for a while. Eventually, if the opportunity arises, I'll probably join PtH so I'll have somewhere else to get stuff if Apollo goes tits up, but I'm not in any hurry, for sure.
The way people are and were acting when What went down is ridiculous. People acting like their mother died or something. It was a torrent site, nothing more, no matter how good you thought it was. It's sad to think so many people dedicated so much time and effort to something that everyone should have known wasn't going to last. It was never a question of IF, only WHEN...
Well, to be fair, there's the required ratio system and some freeleech torrents (which will get you 10 MB a year, but oh well). TorrentLeech is a far better example of a tracker stuck on 2005: zero freeleech, no bonus points, and waiting times on new torrents :slap:
Anyway, I'd like a Torrent Celebrity account on PassTheHead or whatever the name is. What.cd proof follows.
Attachment 172917
good point.
BTW I don't personally care for or listen to perfect flacs. I upload them because they are untrumpable and members can make whatever rips they want from them. I fortunately have over 50 releases from bandcamp.com, and they offer web FLAC, which is 'perfect' standard, so it was relatively convenient.
So what in effect you're saying is that either you play the game or the game plays you.
I don't intend to upload anything because I'm fairly sure that's not the reason to belong to a site where you intend to steal stuff but I don't mind as you've got to do that if you intend to download a lot or want to get into higher userclasses so you can pretend you're cool. I will however never, ever accept all the assholes with seedboxes who monopolize all the bandwidth on every torrent even though they have absolutely no reason other than the obvious, being cunts reason to do so.
Not everyone who uses servers are assholes or ratio whores. I got one (cheap, through Dediseed) because Comcast tends to frown on torrenting, and although I don't DL nearly as much as I used to (and use Usenet as much as possible) I still dl the occasional hard to find torrent.
Also, I don't have to leave my desktop running 24/7.
I agree with you about the upload part, though. I was a member of What from the first week, and never uploaded anything there, only seeded what I downloaded. Granted, I seeded everything for months, but I never had ratio problems there. But anytime I mentioned that on any forum, people acted like I was some kind of criminal because I didn't do any ripping/uploading. I didn't give a shit about userclasses.
On HDBits many distributed invitations. Simply ask.
In total seriousness, I don't know why anyone would want to be a member of a site run by assholes like that.
[/QUOTE]
I hear ya.
I mean I'm mainly a blues and jazz listener(you know...real music and the such), and the remaining music trackers i belong to cater to my needs just fine.
Although admittedly these trackers don't have everything(but one tracker does?). So What was indeed nice to belong to for those few albums I couldn't find elsewhere.
Maybe once these trackers are more than a few weeks old and have some substantial content(cuz really, how much can they really have at this point) I might make an effort to becoming a member.
But for right now I just don't have the patience or energy to kiss ass to get granted into some start up tracker that which we have no idea if it'll be around in a month or so...
This is why I dig 'em too. It's nice to have a lossless rip just so I can convert into whatever the fuck I want. I'm mainly an OGG user, and pretty much nobody uploads in this 'superior to mp3' format. So a raw rip is nice to have for an example like this.
The xanax site is having open signups again for very short periods it seems. Hang out in their irc and you get notified.
Not done this so cant confirm if it is true but it appears on reddit so still cant confirm if true. :)
NotWhat.CD Week #One Update 5 hours and 46 mins ago
"I began revolution with 82 men. If I had to do it again, I'd do it with 10 or 15 and absolute faith. It does not matter how small you are if you have faith and plan of action."
Good day comrades and welcome to Week #One at NotWhat.CD
What a wonderful time to be alive! Over 1,000 users and 5,000 torrents!
First and foremost I want to thank each and every one of our community members and staff for their optimism, patience and dedication. This is your home as much as it is mine and we are making it a wonderful place with a tight-knit community. Before we delve into our site's updates and our site's future it will be best to clear up the disinformation going around.
1. We are in no way, shape or form related to or involved with nostream.co or nostre.am.
2. Our staff members and userbase is comprised entirely of former what.cd members, elites, torrent masters, interviewers, beta team, staff and other tracker staff.
3. We have absolutely no affiliation with 4chan, 8chan, or any other chan, forum or public website.
4. NotWhat.CD uses CloudFlare as an endpoint for our reverse proxies just like nearly every other tracker which explains why our IP Block is similar to most other tracker sites (pth, apl, nos, etc). We are NOT hosted in the same facility as any one of these trackers.
At NotWhat.CD we do not see other music trackers as competition. To the contrary we have been working with several other trackers in effort to unite the community on several fronts including development, security and new features.
For example, our latest update integrating logchecker.php has been a combined effort between our staff and the staff at libble.me, a well known, respected tracker.
I want to personally thank libble.me and their staff for providing the new age of music trackers source code for a well-tested logchecker.php.
Without their help none of the new trackers would have a functional log checker and I think it's a disservice to the entire community to not give credit where credit is due.
Site Updates:
Week One Update#1. Functional Log Checker
Our 'Perfect FLAC' stats will be updated every hour on the hour.
Log Checker Issues:
1a. Viewing log files on site has not been implemented yet.
1b. Attaching missing log files to existing torrents has not been implemented yet.
Week One Update#2. IRC Services
We have implemented NickServ, ChanServ and our Gazelle Bot - Che.
NickServ allows authentication with a X.509 certificate with the CERT Command.
Users can gain access to member-only channels with "/msg che enter #notwhat site-user irckey".
Please make sure your site password, NickServ password and IRCKey are all different.
Week One Update#3. Proper SSL Tracker
Many of you helped diagnose the issues with our reverse ssl proxy to the ocelot tracker.
We have since debugged this issue and resolved it with the proper reverse proxy settings.
We will continue to use the http tracker by default until further notice.
Site Development:
Week One Dev#1. Two-Factor Authentication
We are working on an optional Two-Factor Authentication process for Gazelle whereby users will be sent a secondary code
to their smartphone app such as google authenticate, authy or freeotp necessary to login to the site.
Week One Dev#2. FLAC Automagic Uploader
In beta testing we have a FLAC uploading tool that runs through your music directory and uploads them to NotWhat.CD through
a command line interface. Currently this tool is linux only while we are working on a Windows version that will be released at the same time.
Week One Dev#3. NotWhat.CD Secure Image Host
Week One Dev#4. NotWhat.CD Android App
At this time I would like to officially announce our staff team.
1. Evilwalks, a well-known tracker celebrity is our first Site Administrator tasked with running the site day in and day out.
2. Shax, a former what.cd Power Torrent Master is our first Forum Administrator tasked with managing our forums and community.
3. MrHudson, a former what.cd Torrent Master who is our first Torrent Administrator tasked with overseeing the release information.
4. Nussknacker, a talented developer and former tracker staff will lead our Community Dev Team undertaking some of our upcoming features.
Participating in any music tracker is a daunting, time-consuming task and I would really like to thank these individuals for stepping up
and taking on the ultimate task of rebuilding what was lost in positions of leadership that require dedication, love and faith in our endeavor
Rules & Trumping:
1. V0 will now trump V2 in most circumstances.
2. Do NOT trump existing FLAC torrents without logs as we are working to add the logs retroactively.
Thank you all again for a wonderful start, through out the next 24 hours we will be issuing freeleech for userpick and staffpicks.
Stay tuned for more information as the day progresses!

Apollo: "We've reached 240,000 torrents"
TSOL is right, NotWhat may have missed the train. However, they claim to delete IP logs regularly and that's a pretty good thing.
The elitism and paranoia of PTH reminds me of waffles.fm back in the day, and the openess and more practical and business-like structure of Apollo reflects What.cd much better. Ten years ago I have to admit I fell for the "its harder to get into waffles so it must be better" illusion, and it took me until what.cd pioneered Gazelle for me to understand the differences in their scopes and ambitions.
As for Apollo and PTH; one of these two sites will surely pull ahead of the other, and leave it rival in the dust. Although it's still very early, I think Apollo is well positioned to win this "war", if you may call it that.
Through gossip, I've heard reasons for PTH being closed is so that torrent masters can upload all their FLAC's without what.cd leechers (ie non album rippers) getting the credit. Their management is so retarded if that is actually a reason, and it's almost too ridiculous to believe. As devils advocate, the upside of remaining largely closed is that the upload process will be alot cleaner, and will require less moderation to fix up. However this also creates a huge disparity for all the new users that join a month of so after launch (lets call them 'plebs', or '2nd class members'), when PTH inevitably has to open its doors in order to stay competitive with Apollo. It will require much more effort for these users to get the uploads required to reach higher ranks, which is needed to be get sucked into being a driving force for their community. All the initial members who are already the paranoid screenshot-taking, seedbox using, FLAC ripping nutjobs, who would work to get the ranks regardless, have a huge leg up from all potential future power users. I just don't understand why you would want it to be like this from a management standpoint. It's illogical, the few benefits do not outweigh the damages.
whatsup with the ultra elitiscm yo ?
appolo.rip already ftw ....
i was a member of oink ... great site ... then came what and waffles .. i was not a member a both ...usenet for music ftw .. no time to seed bro ... i am drunk ...
good job appolo ftw <3
i am not sure how many torrents in total what.cd had ?
this is a challenging stuff , to overcome what.cd ...
good job appolo.rip
fuck you cops ...
