The main story seems to get lost in itself, the actors seem more like they are there to help a buddy make his movie than really shine, and there's never really any time when the movie gets exciting. Overally, it wasn't completely bad, but with the talent involved it should have been *much* better. It current;y has a ~6.3 on IMDB, i believe it will settle closer to 5.5...
How much faith do you put in the IMDb ratings really Meg?? Even if you are say really into Westerns?? But the people leaving there ratings/reviews are movie buffs but not avid Western movie lovers?? I know it is a new release and there was only just over 600 people that posted reviews.. My downfall is i seem to always go to movies that i know the actors in it:cry:, and i miss so many diamond in the ruffs because of it....
I Am Wrath (2016)....IMDb rating 5.4 with 11,130 reviews/posts
I thought it was entertaining and a typical Travolta action movie but for me personally it also had Christopher Meloni that stared in Law and Order SVU and thought he played his roll really good in that..
If you are into typical action revenge style movies i would recommend you to check it out, the story line was pretty good:)...
On a personal note to you Meg...
You know thinking now that i see you changed your splash screen and you know actually that was not necessary, just adding the truthful fact context that i did post would have made it a true statement of what i actually said, because i did use those exact words and a few in the beginning of that comment, for that i apologize for not explaining it that way. It's like going to twitter and watching a video posted and then seeing all the horrible people turning on a person and threatening his/her life!! Then a few hours later the full footage is posted and it was completely not what it seemed!!! I guess that's what you can call "Fake News". But really thinking about it on the full footage you only see less than half of the comments, It is like everyone still believes or wants the horrible fake version, not the real truth, to me the biggest dangers of Internet today:yup:

Initially, I never expected to leave that siggyup for more than a day. I intended to quickly ruffle your feathers because it was such a significant out-of-context 'quote' but you never mentioned it. :p
I believe we see a lot of westerns and zombie movies for the same reason: they're cheap to make. Some of them can be exceptional and/or fun. I really had good hopes for The Kid.
IMDb ratings are at least a baseline for expectations. I find that ratings that steadily fall as more people see the movie/show tells an accurate picture of how good something is. At least potentially. My 5.5 rating was meant to say, " not terrible, just not as good as had hoped ". I'll forego any mom/wife/daughter jokes with that...

Oh i did say something a long time back, but it probably got lost in my post and i know you don't really read what i post, you just skim through quickly:)

My wife loves westerns but more vintage ones, she used to watch them all the time with her dad. I myself am not fond of westerns unless you count Blazing Saddles or The Frisco Kid in that category;)...

Fixed!! And don't forget to add one of your joys of life again;), and i did understand what you meant on the average going down/settling to 5.5.....
My kids go to all these different sites to see reviews and shit!!, and you would figure after 600 comments it would be pretty close to accurate, on your flick?? most of the time i don't bother, i download the movie and skim through it to see if i will have any interests in the story line and then save it or chuck it, even the ones that have well known actors i recognize ,but i stay away from all the B horror uploads, i tried watching a few of them and they were so bad i just avoid all of them now.. Halloween 1-2, and Black Christmas would lead my top horror's , and i don't count Blade or Underworld movie series as horror's, but for myself were all really good movies, and recommend all of them if you like that genre...
PS. Well i just was curios and checked out Solo:A Star Wars Story rating and myself personally it took me a few days to watch it, kept falling asleep, actually thought it was shit!! And that sits at 7.0 with 223,544 which is pretty high ratings. And a for some reason a ton of Movies i see posted/uploaded on Usenet are Netflix originals??. Most of those i find shit as well!!!

Also for Westerns, basically anything with Lee Marvin or Burt Lancaster in it.

Re: Stuff I watched recently...
The Old Man and the Gun Like Eastwood, Redford has directed/created/acted in some exceptional films later in life. It was because of that I dove into this one. I won't say it is 'bad' by any means, but I think Redford believed his character and story were more endearing, sentimental than they ended up being. I suspect people over 60 might have been the intended audience. For a movie about robbing banks, running from the police, and living one's life the way one chooses, it lacks real excitement. While the main character is interesting, there's only so much depth to him.
Casey Affleck is very likable and does a great job as usual. Not even sure *why* he's such an enjoyable actor, but he seems to succeed every time.
Maybe with a little more depth, more excitement, and some rewriting this could have been great. As it stands, I give it a 6/10.
-
Re: Stuff I watched recently...
Agreed. Watched The Old Man a while back and was somewhat left scratching my head afterwards. It was a decent enough movie, but it left me wanting...
-
Re: Stuff I watched recently...
Captain Marvel.
With a couple notable exceptions, Marvel movie are all shit. They are smart enough to cast good actors and creating just enough emotional resonance though that people are tricked into thinking they aren't.
Case in point, Captain Marvel. Upon viewing you are left with the impression that it wasn't too bad but if you step and actually consider what you just watched, it pretty much sucks balls.
Didn't watch Old Man anything because seriously "Old Man" why the fuck would I.

HOLY FUCK that was the absolute worst episode of anything I've ever seen. Surprised the actors didn't refuse to perform the script. Mind-numbing nonsense.

Being smarter than you, I was never tricked into believing it was good. Seriously predictable plot 'twist', villain (from the first scene), and nothing but gratuitous fast-moving-special effects. Nothing to see here, move on...

I'm six episodes into Doom Patrol. Honestly, I find it's getting tedious and boring. I take it it's not worth finishing up?

Well Mr Smartypants I said "not too bad" which isn't the same as good. When you had the flu you could sum it up with "well that turned out to be not too bad" but you probably would never say "well that was good". The devil is in the details, Einstein.

I gave up after six episodes even though the premise and some of the characters were still appealing so I wouldn't know.

Bail. Out. Now.
That's 9 hours of your life that you can spend doing almost literally *anything* else that will be more valuable and enjoyable.
It gets weird, then there's a little hope it'll make sense... but it ends up getting hellaciously weird, with NO sense at all. If you were to take a classroom full of autistic kids pumped full of sugar and caffeine then asked them to collaborate on writing a better last 5 episodes to the season my money would be on the autistic kids. 10 out of 10 times. Heck, Oleg could do it himself.
And please don't get curious and push forward-- it sucks in a stupid bad way, not a 'well I gotta see this...' way.

Chernobyl is meh. I still need to watch the last episode but it’s been all drama and no educational info or explanations. I wish they’d have gone into more detail about how radiation does it’s damage. The explanations they offered were pretty weak. Why did physical contact with the firefighters cause them to get so much worse? Why are they having to shoot dogs? I understand they are carrying radiation but they need to qualify that. The show has honestly caused me for more questions than I ever knew I would have about Chernobyl than it has answered.
Anyone watched The Leftovers? Watch s01e02 the other night and it was also meh. Show is highly rated online tho.

Re: Stuff I watched recently...
Interesting to hear a meh on Chernobyl. Ratings have been very high. It's on my to watch list. Thanks for the headsup that it's not so great-- I'll go in with more reasonable expectations.

Give it a go. It’s only six episodes and it does tell the story of Chernobyl. I just wish they’d gone into more depth about radiation and its effects considering that’s the underlying issue in the entire show. If those sort of details in shows interest you maybe read up on radiation before you watch the show

Fun fact for all Europeans of a certain age on here... I sure hope you guys limited your Nutella intake in the years from 1986 to 1990...
A lot of the hazelnuts Ferrero used in manufacturing that stuff came from Turkey, and consequently contained a lot of radiation. And rather than throw the nuts away, the Turks put them in cold storage for a few years and trickled them into the supply chain in the years afterwards.

It's All!! Trump Trump Trumps fault!! CNN just reported it:sly:
Was it reported that any of the Nutella ended up in the US or Canada Cabby?? Or is it really propaganda shit posted??
My Daughter loves Nutella and my neighbors daughter works for Ferrero, occasionally she brings over chocolates and a few big containers of Nutella for her....
-
Re: Stuff I watched recently...
No, true fact. My father was working in the candy business at the time and they had to deal with the same issues for some of their chocolate bars.
Don't know when Nutella was introduced to the US/Canada. Seems to me it wasn't here in the 80s, yet, was it?

White Supremacist Killings
Bill, Nancy and her 8 year-old daughter Sarah live a happy life in the Arkansas Ozarks. When their bodies are pulled from the dark murky waters of the Illious Bayou, police are devestated by the sight.
While She Lay Sleeping
The murder of Florida mother-of-four Andrea White, whose body was found floating in a pond dressed in nightwear. Immediately prior to her death in July 2005, she was in the process of arranging a divorce from her husband David, who was eventually found guilty of the crime.
Texas Killing Fields
The murder of 13-year-old Krystal Baker, whose body was found at the edge of a Texas river in 1996. The case went cold for 16 years until a DNA specimen retrieved from the victim's clothing was linked with that of an itinerant refinery welder.
Slings & Arrows
The case of evangelist Kenneth Richardson, whose body was found floating in the sea at a Florida beach in October 2001 with an arrow piercing his torso. During the investigation it transpired the victim was gay and routinely sought out homosexual liaisons at outdoor locations.
Love Squared
The kidnap and murder of Florida mother-of-two Heather Strong in February 2009. Detectives found her body a month later in a swampy overgrowth and the investigation that followed untangled a web of romance, obsession and betrayal that ultimately led to Strong's female killer.
Death in an Orange Grove
The death of 14-year-old Gina Marie, who was brutally raped and strangled before being discovered in a Florida orange grove in August 1971. Advances in DNA technology finally allowed her killer, Jerry Lee Fletcher, to be convicted 42 years later.

I just watched the series finale of Got ham which probably would have made more sense if I had watched any of the rest of the season. Still Lili Simmons in a Catwoman spinoff is something I could defintiely get behind if you get my drift.
This is for Shay who probably needs me to spell it out.

Re: Stuff I watched recently...
Currently, you'll have to get behind Pennyworth. Good catch on Lili Simmons, it's funny the syfy article mentions her as Catwoman having only done the one episode. Good fit, though.
As for the only confirmed spinoff, I have fairly low expectations of it: Epix channel (here are their current 'originals'), their lead has never been one before (but has been in a couple of notable movies), and it's an unknown backstory to a supporting character-- that isn't in the same/superhero genre... Uphill battle, I think.
