What type of internet connection do you have ?

I voted for cable some time ago but today 3 guys from Verizon show up and now I have 15 mb down and 2 mb up.

If you have FIOS in your area and are on cable I say dumb cable and give Verizon a call, especially if your area has FIOS tv available.

Cable 512... and this sometimes makes me feel like throwing my PC out the window

God I envy you and we are still paying more for just 4mbps.

how much does verizon fios cost? i live in Maryland, suburbs outside of Baltimore.

I use to have ADSL 7mbit/s down 1mbit/s up and will receive an update to adsl2+ in a few days ... will run with about 18mbit/s down and 1 mbit/s up.

Actually becasue we have their home phone service the discount gets it down to $35 per month, it is normally $45 a month.

2mb down/256k up

3500 Kbs down 600 Kbs up

at school I have 44mbps(that is what resnet runs at, but of course, there are a lot of users)- great seeing four downloads going at the same time at over 2000 kb/s (rare, most servers can't keep up.) I am not sure what total download speed I really have because I can't seem to top it out.
at home we have the worst dialup in the world- connects at 24kb/s and never runs over 3kb/s, have seen it at 2b/s

Just gotta be carefull about the download limit- 2gig a day.
Now I gotta get the second line hooked up to my computer as my roommate moved out, yahoo, four gigs a day.

I think you mean 512 not 524, 524 doesn't exist (they go in 128,256,512,1024..and so on)

anyways I have 512/128 and that is classified as ADSL just in case you arn't sure:)

got to love 6.0 Mbps which is about 770 KB/s download and a 800 Kbps upload which is about a 99 KB/s

i'm not sure exactly how i'd classify this:
i live in a neighborhood with a lot of living units packed pretty close together. a local isp connects us all together on a kind of extended lan setup (wan? sorry, my networking knowledge kinda sux :wacko:) i assume they've got a direct connection to fiber but.... limit my speed to whatever i pay for. (the connection into my apt is with a physical ethernet cable.)

It varies as I'm on ADSL2+ which is new in the UK. If I weren't so far from my telephone exchange it would be closer to 20 Mbit download. :angry:

NZ's third-world ADSL - 256kbps dl, 128kbps up. At least it's unlimited for about another month.

2Mb/256kB Is what Im on currently but Im just migrating to another business ISP which does 8Mb/448Kb and Im only 500meters from exchange and maxout so will should maxout the 8Mb aswell.

No capping no port blocking no timeout due to being business provider

Another good thing is the price is about 20p difference :D

Time Warner (soon to be Comcast in this area) with 8Mb down and 2Mb up.

10mbit down- 512kb up superfast dl but not so good up and ntl sort out the pricing £34.99 a month sucks!

currently on 512/256 broadband,soon to be upgraded to 1mb/256

3Mbs/256Kbs Cable. It's alright, but keeping a positive ratio is a pain with this upload speed.

DL: 512kbit ; UL: 512kbit @ DAY
DL: 1MBit ; UL: 1MBit @ NIGHT

I am using LAN internet, 64K down and 30K up...
I have used 2 years cable net from very bad ISP :(

cable 10000k/256k dl/ul australia (10mbit down xD)

I have DSL, hope to be moving to FIOS (Fiber Optics) when it becomes available in my area. :)
