As someone who also lives with serious depression, and endured it unknowingly for roughly 25 years without treatment, you know we endure the darkest of black days as they make the perpetual grey almost tolerable.

Those who do not live with depression sign it off as "sadness" or "a down day". This is an injustice and an insult to those who face it. It is closer to physical, chronic pain than an emotion. If anyone doubts this, notice how often the depressed retreat -either into themselves, or a den, only to roar and bite if pushed any further.
