Bedtime Stories 1/10
It's not even worth my reviewing so I just copied and pasted this

Re: What is the latest movie you watched?
Went on a binge the last few days...
The Dark Knight and Iron Man (saw both in theaters when released).
Both movies held up well watching them at home but Iron Man was the better of the two.
The Dark Knight- which I originally saw in IMAX- seemed too dark and muddy on my 20" monitor, and was also about 20 minutes too long.
Heath Ledger gave the performance of the year.
I thought Robert Downey, Jr. was perfect and even Gwyneth was fine as Pepper Potts, don't see where all the hate is coming from.
Carried on with RDJ in Tropic Thunder which seemed funnier in concept than execution.
The Tom Cruise cameo was brilliant, even though I knew he was in there, it was still a total surprise.
Last up was Wanted...brilliantly made nonsense.
If you're going to make an "action" movie, the action sequences better be good- these were.
Angelina Jolie is the queen of the genre, no one else comes close.
I was tempted to pause the film and make popcorn- my ultimate tribute to a good action flick.
Next in queue are Wall-e, Let the Right One In and The Ruins.
I've read The Ruins and just hope I can stomach the gore I know is coming.

Just a couple comments.
People who can't see the brilliance in Heath Ledger's Joker fail to see that's it's all in the details.
I thought I'd like Wanted but I didn't.
I don't know if James McAvoy's character wasn't sympathetic enough or if it his character arc was just too much of a leap.
Maybe I just don't like the whole idea of the (a)morality of a group of assassins killing for the greater good.
Whatever it was it left me cold.
Btw agree Jolie's by far the best thing about the movie even more so than the FXs.
Can't wait to see Downey in Sherlock Holmes.Besides being a fan of the boy from 221b Baker Street I think with Guy Richie at the helm it has a chance to be brilliant.
Or not but it won't be sleep inducing.

Indeed.
His walk down the street in the nurse's uniform kills me.

There were characters and a storyline?
I'll have to watch it again to find them.
I hope that Morgan Freeman made a buttload of cash- and I assume that he did- because he has become a real shortcut for scriptwriters. You needn't develop a character if you can just plug MF into the story and let him be his iconic self.
He is quickly becoming a parody of himself, much like Pacino and DeNiro.

He has a tough row to hoe displacing Jeremy Brett from my imagination but I'm willing to make the effort.
Edit:
OK, this is weird.
Just watched Wall-e and Let The Right One In back to back and was struck by the similarities.
Nebbishy male falls for strong female, complications ensue and boy saves the day.
Wall-e was cute and impeccably rendered (of course, it's Pixar, what do you expect?) but LTROI was more striking and original.
These days it's hard to find a new angle for a vampire story but the Swedes found one.

The first bit of Wall.E is as close to art as you are going to find in films today.
And I'm not talking about the rendering.
The Departed ......I resolutely refuse to give a movie anything over an 8 unless it has a happy ending.
Or gratuitous nudity
Hopefully by a woman.

I assume you're referring to the "pre-EVE" segment that begins the film.
I'm going to rewatch the movie anyway, I think I was influenced by watching Let The Right One In right before and I want to go on an Easter egg hunt as well.
First up though is Quantum of Solace.
It's hard work but I'll take one for the team.
Right then.
Quantum of Solace was just pathetic.
Clearly, a lot of money was spent on the setpiece scenes but the editing made such a jumble of things that the effect was ruined.
Also, it seems to me that the one crucial thing that a Bond film must have is a good villain and Quantum just serves up a barely hyped evil businessman.
Bernard Madoff seems more Bond-scale than the twerp we got.
On the other hand, Slumdog Millionaire reminds me again of why movies can be magic.
Clever, engaging and yes, educational...I was exposed to characters and cultures that I would normally never encounter.
As a bonus, not only was the movie great but the final credits were among the best I've seen lately too.

Slumdog Millionaire.
Danny Boyle did great job.

Re: What is the latest movie you watched?
I think MILK is the best film of the year. Singularly one of Penn's best performances and one of Gus's best films.
Love the Curious Case of Benjamin Button as well.
Slum Dog Millionaire was to soap operish and to gimmicky.

Whipped. Not the greatest movie by far but it was still funny. I'm a sucker for B-rated guy rom coms.

Re: What is the latest movie you watched?
The Wackness- Ben Kingsley, Olivia Thirlby, Josh Peck.
A highly touted (Sundance favorite), semi-coming of age film set in 1994 New York.
I appreciated the acting and enjoyed looking at Thirlby but the movie made no great impression on me.
A meandering pace- which I think was intentional- and characters with whom I didn't really connect or much like, left me uncaring and wondering what the point was.
Maybe the ennui and lack of connection were the point but I don't think I'll rewatch to see.

Futurama Benders Game.
10/10 of all the futurama movies
7/10 of all movies.
One of the best Futurama movies i've ever seen, it was very good and quite funny.
