still can't see how eminem is killing hiphop. he never scrapped his principles in order to sell. (he might have put em on the back-burner a bit :ph34r: ) but if he wants to educate he might as well try and get through to as many people as possible

the sad part is, Thats the DEATH OF HIPHOP.RAP.
it is based on what you see in the mainstream
i know artists that are better then eminem easy,
and DO focus on world issues and politics etc etc and dont even talk about that shit, again you hear 99% of rappers saying that because it sells

its just a shame that you base hiphop or rappers on the mainstream.

i still say there's not many as talented as eminem :snooty:

the point is your all crying about how eminem isnt into true hiphop or some shit but if you look at the alternatives like ja rule and jermaine dupre :| then eminem is a fucking legend. i spent last night listening to all of tupacs albums (supposedly the real hip hop artist and best rapper ever) and most of his songs are shit hes only liked because hes dead... people are afraid to speak out because people like to follow other peoples opinions like sheep. Imortal technique is good but hes beats just arent good enough to cut it i mean the lyrics might be good but without a good sounding track whats the point?

I don't base hip hop or rappers on mainstream, I don't listen to hip-hop...period, I'm more into Rock, Metal and and well I guess thats it lol. Only Eminem and maybe once in very f'ing long while an independent artist or artists that are not in the mainstream is what I listen to, and I must say some are quite good.

As formula1 post says, he pointed out Kanye West, I gave it a look on torrentspy and I must say I am very very impressed. The only reason I bothered to look into Kanye West is because of the movie Jarhead (look in movieworld) and his song "Jesus Walks", lyrical genius is a very good description. So far, Eminem and Kanye West are the only hiphop artists/music I listen to, mostly Eminem. I dont' consider Eminem to be part of hip hop even though most people say he is, his stuff is on a higher level than that.

metaphors similes repition whatever they use it more skillfully through there rhymes

This topic comes up alot even in the hiphop scence/forums (comparing eminem to canibus comes up alot)
and when I or somebody else say Compare Canibus's lines to eminem's lines i dare you
they never do it, because canibus is to skilled hes one of the greatest if not the greatest lyricist of all time.

as to being to best = how many records sold.

You keep restating yourself, we got the message, I for one got the message years ago. Records sold doesn't amount to shit cuz in the end that goes back to mainstream again (ooo, look the new album EVERYONE is talking about....). No one here is arguing with you except for the rare rap artist wannabe. For me, I'll stick with my Eminem, slipknot, system of a down and other great classics including Pantera. If you really want to hear some of Em's good stuff, check out his underground songs. And for those ppl interested in something good and "for a change", Thousand Foot Krutch.

Yup, something like 5-7 years ago. The problem with mainstream is that it's basically force feeding the public. It's the "hip" thing to do or listen to, just like fads, that's all mainstream music is.

i think rainman and follow the yellow brick road were brilliant songs especially the lyrics in yellow brick... hes a pure genius. the thing with you neon is you hear his song that he releases to keep the kids happy and automatically judge him, of course just lose it is gonna suck but he has to do it to keep the mainstream fans happy. listen to the rest of his album more then once and you might actually understand where im trying to come from
