As usualy there are sceptics who thought that a couple didn't risk their life in the middle of a riot for some romance. I didn't believe them until I saw this:

Appears to be more romance on the field :ermm:

I fail to see how that picture proves it was staged.

I saw them interviewed the next day on television. They're just an average couple who had been out watching the hockey game at a bar. Apparently they had been handled roughly by the riot police and she fell down and was quite traumatized over it. He was laying beside her trying to calm and console her and at one point gave her a kiss, which is when the famous photo was taken. The second photo must have been taken later when some others came to help out. If you notice in the first picture the riot police are off in the distance from them, so they wouldn't have appeared in the second photo, which looks like it was taken from above and only shows a small portion of the street.
