Like a lot of risky pursuits, once you start to question yourself you're inviting disaster. As to descending on a bike specifically and also oddly life in general, you need to stay as relaxed as possible and understand that momentum will help you overcome a lot of things standing in your way.
Exactly as I did it, yes...right up until I dabbed cuz I was a wee bit off, and killed my left knee.
Paranoia did the rest.
