lol, hes done a fresh install like 10 times before now, and has also tried upgrading from windows 2000 which also had some problems with drivers.

he has tried like 3 or 4 different copys of xp pro, one of those being the same one i have been using for 2 years...and for 2000 pro he also has the exact same one i downloaded. (we got both from the same places)
With the original problem you coulda just clicked Start, Run and typed sfc /scannow.
Why do people in here so quickly say "reinstall windows" for the slightest fucking thing?

Never mind.
Didn't see it posted here so I assume you either PMed or know him personally.
So it restored all the original files but didn't fix it, yet the disc installs fine on another system?
Perhaps when XP installed it configured itself to do without the files that weren't there and doesn't know they're there now?
