@RF......Yeah but they made a major shift in the allowences, last tax year it was £1500 you paid 10% on and 27,000 before high rate, they actually gave us a break :)

@MJPF.......Yeah thanks for that :frusty: the only thing that does is they work out how much you gotta pay, usually do that as I fill in the form anyway, does'nt take much :) I'll do it after xmas like last year :01:

The end of September thing is bollocks, when you think about it.

They work the tax out whether you put a figure into the box or not. If you've done it incorrectly they will correct you, send you a letter about it and ammend your bill accordingly. They mislead you into getting your form in early cause they get all stressed and overworked in January, I reckon.

Bah! taxmen!! (Sorry, RF ;) )

I dissagree with the reason there Manky, I reckon it's to get it all sorted and get your money early, ok so your few grand wont make much difference but 10 million people's few grand earns a lot of interest in the bank ;)

i filed my taxes for the first time.. .and i got nothing back cuz i owed my boss at the time so much money that he got all my tax return. :(

I shouldn't generalise anyway. I'm sure there are some perfectly decent taxmen. I look forward to meeting one IRL.
