Re: A Question About Azureus
I'm not at home so I can't give you the exact setting, but the short answer is yes. You need to go to tools->preferences->transfer and in there you should be able to set a number of parameters about UL/DL bandwidth, # of torrents, and # of connections.
-
Re: A Question About Azureus
nope its not in transfer menu.
tools>option>queue>set the upload and download numbers there.
-
Re: A Question About Azureus
Cool thank you for the help. I'm really new to bittorrents so I don't know what half the stuff in the options menus are for.
-
Re: A Question About Azureus
Well I got home and tried both suggestions but the files still will not come out of queue on their own. The only way I can get them to start loading is by forced downloading.
-
Re: A Question About Azureus
tools->configuration wizard and try to reconfig u're coinnection again and be sure to have enable fast resuming. Do u have anything seeded??? somethimes when u have to much seeded u can start new downloads(they start but they r put on hold).
-
Re: A Question About Azureus
Sorry to point you to the wrong menu, but it sounds like you found it ok anyway since I was corrected. So just to be sure I get it, lets say you have a few things Queued to download, and a few things seeding. Nothing new will start to download unless you force it? In that menu there's a "max active torrents" setting too, which, if you're seeding a few things, you should be sure to set to more than the max downloads number. Otherwise your downloads might not start if you're seeding things. If you're not seeding anything, or you have those numbers set to something that should work, say 4 downloads max, and 8 max active torrents if you are seeding 4 or fewer (not that those numbers are the ideal or anything) and your downloads still don't automatically start, then I don't know what to tell you without really digging around in azureus. (And once again, I'm at work...so I could check when I get home if you want.)

Azureus slowing my computer down significantly
After 2 months, I decided to update my azureus client. Went through 5 restarts. Finally, it finished updating and now it seems that when I have azureus opened, my cpu usage shoots up around 60+%. Anyone else had this problem? Anyone know how to solve it?
-
Re: Azureus slowing my computer down significantly
Got the latest version of Java installed?
-
Re: A Question About Azureus
Yep, I want to keep at least 5 torrents loading at all times but once a torrent is finished another one doesnt start unless I force it to. I have a bunch of torrents seeding too so I don't think thats the problem. I also redid the config wiz and made sure that enable fast resume was checked. It seems like no matter what I do the torrents will not start on their own once one has been completed.

u see that is the problem.. try stopping what u seed and then put a new torrent to download... u'll see that it will begin without u forcing it to do so

Re: Azureus slowing my computer down significantly
it is a resource hogger i have found, no matter what you try to do. worse when it is checking a file after a bad shutdown.
-
Re: Azureus slowing my computer down significantly
its not Azureus, its Java that does this.
-
Re: Azureus slowing my computer down significantly
of course, worse for me caus i have a very old pc, newest upgrade was a 128mb graphics card, dunno how java is on newer machines. i have found though that when usage does start getting too much just restart the program and it seems to work fine, until it starts again that is, usually when it has finished a file for me.
-
Re: Azureus slowing my computer down significantly
Ike and rick were right, it was the java, I had to update it. ridiculous how an update can solve that. Thanks.
-
Re: Azureus slowing my computer down significantly
azureus is very feature rich, but is very bloated. i prefer lighter clients like bitcomet.
-
Re: Azureus slowing my computer down significantly
I just switched from "ABC" to Azureus. And I think it is really cool. But does anybody know why it says that I have a download speed when all I'm doing is seeding? Is that some kind of special seeding feature that I'm unaware of? Or is the program lying to me. My ratios have gotten a lot better since the switch though.

Re: Azureus slowing my computer down significantly
A few things you want to keep in mind. If you download alot and some of the things you download require serials, and like me, you visit sites with porn popup etc for the serials, alot of the times they have a java exploit that more times then not is picked up by norton.
Well what happens is it seems to mess up java, so that Azureus seems to go slow all the time. The only thing that I have found to fix that is a complete reinstall of java.

I second this! Azereus eats a lot of resources! Use bitcomet!

Re: Azureus slowing my computer down significantly

Azureus does not do that, It's java that can cause that.
make sure you have:
the latest version of Azureus,
the latest version of Java.
if it still uses a lot of resources get the latest version of the older Java builds (1.4.2).
also check the options in Azureus. Lots of people complain when they never even seen the option menu :frusty:

Re: Yellow Smilie: Azureus No Remote Connection
Hi all! I registered especally just to post this comment and help out everyone as i had the yellow smiley face problem also.
You need to open up the port range on your router, everyone knows this. This is not neccessarly in the NAT section. There is a fantastic site that will show you how to do this, it lists a number of routers and then you can choose the program as it also shows the ports for that program.
e.g. I chose my router, then azureus. I did a range of 6881 - 6999. Once I did this I saved the settings in the router and restarted it. I then changed the NAT / Firewall test so the incoming listening port was 6881. After awhile (5 mins?) they changed from yellow to green.
Ok, now heres the site!!!!
http://www.portforward.com/routers.htm
Admins please put this URL somewhere so people can easily modify their router settings. Thanks. :)

Please, I dont know whats gone wrong (azureus)
I've been away for a week and for some reason my computer wont accept bittorrent downloads through azureus, giving me the error Connection Error (UnknownHostException: (the the tracker im trying to download from). I've been trying to sort it for a while with no luck. I'm on a household network useing a BT wireless network 1250. Im sure its something simple and i'm sorry to be a hassle, but as far as I can see im stumped. Plus my MSN messenger has stopped working giving me the command that the service is busy, I know that it is not as I can sign in on other computers in this network. aggggrrrhhhh
Anyway, any help would be much appreciated. Thanks :)

Re: Please, I dont know whats gone wrong (azureus)
I forgot to mention that since I have been away my brother has been useing my computer. I dont know whether it could have been him messing with the ports that are open or . . . . . I dont know. It all seems the same as when I went . . .BUT ITS NOT!. The firewall settings are still the same, as are my router settings.
Thats all i can think of telling you. Cheers

Re: Please, I dont know whats gone wrong (azureus)
Forgive me but what the feck has that got to do with "related to this board".
-
Re: Please, I dont know whats gone wrong (azureus)
alright sorry. posted it on the wrong board. didnt mean to offend.!
-
Re: Please, I dont know whats gone wrong (azureus)
What tracker is it? Maybe it's just gone down for a while.
-
Re: Please, I dont know whats gone wrong (azureus)
oink and uknova. Thats the only ones Ive tried. but as I said I have tried on other computers and it has worked. hmmmm. It wont let me seed either.
-
Re: Please, I dont know whats gone wrong (azureus)
moved to the correct section
-
Re: Please, I dont know whats gone wrong (azureus)
thank you. I was about to repost it but I thought that might be annoying for you
-
Re: Please, I dont know whats gone wrong (azureus)
If you were away for a week was the router switched off.
If so the ips (on the lan side) may have been re-assigned, depending on which PC was switched on first.
You could look at the dhcp client table and see which computers are allocated which numbers, then check that ports are being forwarded to the right ones.
I don't use azureus (prefer tornado) so I can't really suggest about t'software itself.
-
Re: Please, I dont know whats gone wrong (azureus)
ok cheers ill try that. the router wasnt switched off, but I'm not really sure what went on with the network. ill post again if it works
-
Re: Please, I dont know whats gone wrong (azureus)
nope everything seemed fine. Anyway, ive given in and changed bt clients to bittornado. everything seems fine. Im sure it must have been something stupid with azureus, perhaps something wrong with the version of JAVA I had. Thanks anyway.

cant get azureus to connect
hello.
i have what i'm hoping is a simple problem... i'm trying to download a torrent and my normal application wont accept it (bittornado). on the boards it says theres a problem with tornado and to use azereus and it works fine.
so i downloaded the latest version of it. installed it. but when i click on the torrent file it wont connect. it list that there are plenty of peers and seeds but i'm not connected to any of them.
i'm not sure if it's the port? as bittonrado would automatically do the port work for me.
any suggestions to make this work? or what other information would you need to help me out?
btw: i have disabled my firewall for this, and windows firewall is disabled.

Re: cant get azureus to connect

azureus spyware
Im new here but i wanted to point out my surprise,
maybe i was naive but I thought opensource software meant it would be clean from spyware, but on a recent bitdefender scan i got this warning for
Azureus_2.3.0.4_Win32.setup.exe which I downloaded from the sourceforge site -
Detected: Adware.Exact.Bargainbuddy.O
I remeber a warning on the azureus site saying not to download this from elsewhere, so just to make sure I went here
http://azureus.sourceforge.net/download.php
and downloaded it again just now and scan gives same warning.
-
Re: azureus spyware
What antispyware software do you use, I recommend Ad-Aware and Spybot Search&Destroy, not that Microsoft crap, it always detected fake stuff.
-
Re: azureus spyware
This was with Bitdefender which is a virus scanner.
I used to use Ad-aware up until it got too comercial, then Spybot, but now from what i heard Spybot is begining to conform to some type of regulation laid out by a regulatory body and that doesn't sound good to me.
-
Re: azureus spyware
It's completely safe. You most likely downloaded a screwed with version. Make sure you get the real version as linked above. Can i recommend you download and run microsoft anti-spyware?
-
Re: azureus spyware
i use that old version 2.2 or something.
i dont think ill be updating, thanks for the warning
-
Re: azureus spyware
i am using the latest Azureus 2.3.0.4, i have Kaspersky antivirus, Adaware and Ad-watch, with latest definitions, uptill now nothing fishy detected! Azureus does not have any spyware.
