but whats the advantage of having an E Ballast over a metal halide
Coil & Core ballast usually are not encased, heavy, sometimes will buzz a lot more and runs usually hotter. It also looks like an expose transformer.Quote:

anyways i did some calculations...and if i buy most of all my parts from LL it comes up to a grand total of $470including a used 15" LCD and if i buy the ballast from another place it comes to $430
the $470 has a e ballast
the $430 has the high pressure sodium ballast

Here is another option that has been talked about....
bulb - Part # 40124 Venture 400w ED28 = $35.48
mogul - E39 = $4.50
ballast - V90D612 = $66.85
This is found at the link I gave you, but you can find it elsewhere as well. It is a less expensive set up with the coil and core type ballast. Just remember for the light, the more lumens and higher color temperature is better too.
My bad, I think you're right... that is a HPS bulb. LumenLab has a confusing way of listing their bulbs. My friend bought the complete kit, which is MH and I assumed that the single bulb was a replacement for the kit but upon further review it is an HPS and I don't see a replacement MH listed. i got halfway through dismantling it and found what looks like carpet tape holding the board down. i'm presuming there's tracks in it. i'm gonna wait for our ben to get back cos he's teh_roka at electronical stuff.
