OK so after what feels like a year. I finally got to squeeze a few hours in to spend with the rig.
I drained, flushed and refilled my system and changed from red to blue. I felt the red looked more pink than anything and I wasn't happy so blue it is! also I got the sunbeam rheobus and took off the faceplate and replaced it with the brushed aluminum "blank" that came with my case per Clocker's suggestion. I think it looks great and WAY easy to do drill a few 1/4" holes for the LED's and a few 3/8" holes for the controllers. I also added a small switch in it as well for my UV lights that I wired together to use 1 switch. Here are some pics of it :)
Before I refilled my system I had to switch the tubes on the waterblock because the apogee GTZ has a directional flow to it and I had the input on the output barb.
The downside was that I had to move my HDD's down to the basement area of the case but even that wasn't so bad, less visible wires and Now there are 4 san ace fans across and it looks cool. Almost all the fans are San ace now and the ones that arent....will be soon :)
I used some black poster board in a few spots to cover up and give a more finished look to anything I felt needed it. I just did it quickly and I am going to re do it with better cuts when I get a chance.

I changed the "drainport" from the red anodized to a delrin one to avoid corrosion

Looks nice.
Thanks so much man
aye it does:) i would be very happy with it, soooooooo the big question now is, is it finished?
I have to put the Lan Li casters on and I AM finished....I think. Until all the new toys come out in Jan/Feb then we'll see.
lol figured you would say 'i think', well im glad that you've stopped cos i bet your wallet and wife are:p
eh I do well enough that I can save up for the toys without it impacting the wife or kids at all. It's my hobby and it beats me going to the bar everyday :O
Here is the Youtube vid BTW

My next build ;)

it can do it just a few seconds! god thats mad. So yerr have you got the fans on full whack there? looks good either way:) I would now try and get the coldest temp going:p
Today I will post temps
Sorry I never got to post temps but
HOUSTON WE HAVE A PROBLEM
I had it running using it barely due to my life being insanely busy this last month so I started getting my settings just the way I liked and suddenly It shut down and then when it rebooted I had no video. After re-restarting over and over, checking cables and stuff I opened her up and there was a mother fuc*ing leak!!! Aparently, the idiot I am, I forgot to put the last few clamps on the fittings and one was almost completely off from the barb. Needless to say there was a small amount of liquid coating the top of my video card. I have dried it with a paper towel and have had it sitting open for 2 days now to dry out.
Do you guys think the card is done for. The Feser one is supposed to be Non conductive but who knows? AHHHHH What should I do guys. I am honestly too tired and disgusted with myself to plug it back in for at least another day or two. Any suggestions??
i would have done what you did just leave it to dry for a couple of days and then try plugging it in again. like you said the stuff is non conductive so chances are it might alright.
Pour some alcohol on it to help seek out/displace any last traces of water...there are infinite tiny crevices where water can hide on a PCB.
You'll probably be OK.
Sorry to hear of your setback D., the learning curve can be steep sometimes.
The thing thay leads me to believe it's too late is that it shut off in the first place if it were truly non conductive it shouldn't have had a problem right?
i know why your sceptical about it but, ive heard the same story and heard that the that persons pc come bk from the dead, so there is a chance fella:) have faith:p
Thanks guys still havent had the time/nerve to power her back up.
Is it a problem with the water system if it sits still too long??
Shouldn't be.
Good luck.
ive had mine off for a couple of days when i wasn't using my pc and when i turned it bk on it was perfectly fine. Normally i keep mine running 24/7 and turn the pump off like once a fortnight.
Hi everyone,
Sad times with the leak, Detale :(
I ensured when I set mine up that I ran it for 24 hours without the computer running to see if there was any leaks.
It's possible to make the power supply JUST power the pump for the water cooling by shorting two pins on the montherboard power supply.
This was my first attempt at a cooling system and it goes pretty well. Got my AMD AM2 6000+ overclocked by 20%. Temps depend entirely on room temp, but at load on average it hangs around 30 degrees centigrade - so I could easily overclock it more.
Built this system in 2006, but since then i've added the water cooling system, new CPU, new RAM, new mobo, new PSU and extra hard disk space.
lol so basically you have changed everything but the case:P, looks good either way fella:) what rad are you using?
So, what's happening here?
Has the PC been powered up since the ahem, "mishap"?
So funny you guys would post now. I finally grew a pair last night out of no where and tried to start her up and.... nuttin, no screen at all. I had an old ATI 1600X ( I think) and put that in and she started right up no problems. Not a big deal really but here's where I am now:
First I requested a RMA from EVGA and I am going to mail it tomorrow but I doubt I'll actually get the card exchanged because of the water damage and the serial number sticker was ruined when I first wiped the card off. I'm going to send it in anyway figuring I have nothing to lose right?
Secondly (when they reject my RMA) do I even want to spend money on another 8800? I'm torn because I have the waterblock for it already. but I feel like I should wait and get a GTX card if Im going to spend any money on a new card. TBH I don't know if Im going to watercool the next card because of the hassle and when you buy the waterblock for it you're "locked in" to having that card. I'm still unsure really.
I think as of now I'm going to wait and see what the RMA gods hav in store for me and go from there. What do you guys think?
Yup!! Hehe. And yesterday I bought myself a new BFG 280GTX to replace my olf 7900GTX, should come on monday I can't wait!
Using the radiator that came with the kit, its the Swiftech H20-220 Apex Ultra Watercooling Kit. Recently replaced the liquid with the nice green non-conductive stuff :D Here's a link to the one I got:
http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showpr...75/754/939/940)
Detale, chances are they might not even check and just send you a new one - but you'll just have to see. Like you said, no harm in trying!
Right, Hopefully they dont check

OK guys I'm back in the game. After my little mishap almost 2 months ago I got some new goodies and I'm going to give it another shot. I opened her up tonight and saw the full extent of the mess for the first time and it's awful. I'm going to have to take everything out of the case and give it a good cleaning. Also in the tubes the UV blue fluid I was using seemed to stain certain parts of it.
Does anyone know if I can just flush the hoses with warm water or do I need new ones? Basically I need to wash everything out because it's all funky in there. anyone have any good ideas on how to do this??
I've seen people use bottle brushes to clean stained tubes but never tried it myself.
I'd just replace them.
Yeah I may just do that. I did flush the parts with warm tap water. As long as I use a bactericide it should be ok right?
I just use straight distilled water- no additives.
Also does anyone know of a generic inexpensive GPU block that would work on more than this one card?
Clocker do you mean you would flush it with distilled?
No, I mean that's what I use when it's running.
BTW, I have a nearly brand new Swiftech MCW60 block you can have.
That's about as universal as it gets.
O'rly :naughty:
Yup.
OK so I want to do the top mount with the rad using the Rad9 brackets but my Radiator is too big. Also I am only cooling the CPU and northbridge now as the other two blocks I have don't fit. The mosfet just isn't right and the southbridge fits but not with the video card :frusty:
Here are the available options per the specs:
- Black ICE GT Stealth 240
- RAD Alphacool NexXxoS Pro II - Rev.
- Magicool 240 D Radiator
- Magicool 240 mm UV Radiator
- ThermalTake TMG2
Now I know the magicool UV one prob isn't the best but how bad would you think it is. I think I have it narrowed down to the two links above. Opinions?
I'm running a HW Labs 360 now- not the x-flow- and it's fine.
Never even seen a Magicool.
It says that these are compatible with the bracket and I do like the UV ;) so I think Im going to give it a go. Hope it's decent:shutup:
i have my original intel cooler and it's making weird sounds when i start my PC but after 2 minutes it stops . Anybody know what could be the problem
My pc is runing 16 hours of 24
Often that is a sign that the fan bearing is getting ready to fail.
Yep, you should get a new one now before it's too late.
Very nice build Detale!!
I could only imagine getting to control that NSA super computer for a few hours... LOL.. I wonder how many email passwords and sites you could bring down with that... HAHA
