Is that the TCPIP patch thing to make downloads faster?
I just tried the 20 patch update and it is much simpler that the earlier one, it will change the value from 10 to 50 and then if you choose to later you change it back from 50 to 10 by running it again although I cant imagine why anyone would...

well microsoulv3 had that good of download speed and i am on cable and mine is sucking
Look DarkNess4Ever it will make no incresed speeds it just puts TCP back to what it was like on SP1 well notthe same now at 50 which is good enough for P2P programs. How can u get so confused in all this. All you do is run the patch and follow instructions. Not hard a 7 year old can follow intructions.
It will not make much difference in speed so stop expecting a huge difference remmember with P2P it depends on seeds speeds and things like that.
Go and try a speed test.
If you live in uk go to ADSLGuide or try http://us.mcafee.com/root/speedometer.asp?cid=9438
that will tell you streams but McAfee not great forspeed test i don't like it i prefer ADSL Guide u can use it if outside UK it gives that option
These are my results from here http://bandwidthplace.com
Personal test results
Speed
194.5 kilobits per second
Communications 194.5 kilobits per second
Storage 23.7 kilobytes per second
1MB file download 43.1 seconds
Subjective rating Mediocre
my speed on my suprnova download is 57-58 kibs/per sec what now?
Could u use ADSL guide so i have a good idea
Using ADSL guide i get as follows:
Results from broadband speed test recorded on Tuesday, 10 August 2004, 11:59.
Your Connection
Direction
Actual Speed
True Speed (estimated)
Downstream 167 Kbps (20.9 KB/sec) 180 Kbps (inc. overheads)
Upstream 64 Kbps (8.0 KB/sec) 69 Kbps (inc. overheads)
Thats nto very good really u must be on a around a 150K Down/ 80k Up connection
On ADSL guide i get
(114.5 KB/sec)
(30.5 KB/sec)
What connection do you have???
I have a 1.1MB connection.
U might be getting normal speeds on Bittorrent cos thats the max of your connection
I have a cable connection with road runner

How exactly can I trigger this.. I still trying to see this for myself..
do you have a cable net connect? if so, try rebooting your cable modem by unplugging the power to it, and plug it back in. that usually seems to reset those damn things (I have a motorola surfboard 4200)Quote:

Well, I've patched tcpip.sys (and double checked to make sure something hadn't copied another version back) and I still get event 4266 using ABC bittorrent client. I am seriously thinking of uninstalling SP2.
This restriction is outrageous, what right have Microsoft to say that I can't have more than x failed connections? I also know of plenty of professional software packages which will fail with this restriction, I can easily foresee a BIG rumpus over this.
I use Shadows client and I have no problems. I guess i can try ABC to see if I get the same error as you. Tell me what you are doing so that I can duplicate it on my machine to see if the error is ABC fault.Quote:

It seems to happen when the third torrent kicks in.
Don't worry about it, I've patched tcpip.sys myself to raise the limit to 150, I'm just about to try it and I'll let you know the result.
Edit: Setting the limit to 150 has cured the problem, but I still can't see any real justification for this being imposed by Microsoft.
it is supposed to stop worms from spreading, like heart worms, ring worms, etc........things that make you go to the doctor. :P
because (in Microsoft's opinion) the average user doesnt connect to that many sources in that amount of time. basically, we internet users have been told by microslop that we arent allowed to pirate and/or steal copywrited files from the internet based on the existing file transfer programs available, and we basically said "fuck you, we like BT"...................and patched it. :P
There has been a patch that supposedly allows unlimited connections. (Well at least 65,565)Quote:

There is a new version out of the Patcher.
Now 2.0b
Available here: http://www.lvllord.de/4226fix/4226fix.htm
Instructions for opening 50 connections:
Just execute the EvID4226Patch20b.exe file. It will automatically find the windows
directory and ask, if it should increase/decrease.
After a successful patch, the new TCPIP.SYS will be automatically installed.
Windows will give a warning that changes were made. Don't let Windows
reinstall its version. After that, the computer should be restarted.
And you're done.
----------------------------------
For more than 50 open connections, use parameters:
Usage: EvID4226Patch20b [/L=limit] ([/W=windir] || [/F=file])
/L = Set a limit (valid values from 10-16777214)
/W = Set the windows directory if detection fails.
(cannot be used in combination with /F-command)
/F = Set the file to be patched. Does not touch any other file.
(cannot be used in combination with /W-command)
I can`t connect to this page...Quote:

Can you please host this file somewhere please... B)
Try http://www.yousendit.com/default.uplx
Also if you patch both tcpip.sys in the "dllcache" and "drivers" folder, windows won't complain about it..
Do i need to get the newest version?
I just added this to my host file..
Looks good. B)

Ive notice in that screenshot your current is not 50 awaiting to change to 10 or 10 awaiting to change to 50. Did you apply the patch with the larger limitaion or is that initial screen you got the first time you ran it. The first time I ran patch 20 it showed it was going to change 50 to 10 since and the when I did it again it changed the 10 back to 50, since I had already run patch 12 and never really never seen my default value since the earlier patch did not show it like 20 does now, makes me want to go back and reinstall xpsp2 out of curisoty, the reason I ask is you have mentioned in both posts that you nver got the error, well if thats your default maybe then it would make more sense...

ok, i know that a lot of u guys are posting links containing new patches to counter this problem
so i just wanna clear this confusion (in case it arises) by saying that the linx come back to the same person, same website...lvllord
i thank him for his effort
btw, another thing that caught my eye was when i revisited the SP2 download page...Windows XP Service Pack 2 Network Installation Package for IT Professionals and Developers...i found out that the published date has changed from 8 August to 10 August.
the filesize remains the same, mebe microsoft has republished SP2 (i dunno, but the date has definitely changed)
anyone know why?
