Don't get a WD. At least not a "WD My Book". The disk itself is good and all, but the drive has no off button. It starts automatically when your pc starts and goes in standby mode while it's not being accessed for a while. That might be great for some people, but for me it's a real pain. It delays software that only sporadicly accesses the drive.

Also with my configuration, my pc won't start when the drive is plugged in. I get stuck in my bios start up in that case. I hear many other people have the same problem with this drive.

you probably have a gigabyte motherboard. gigabyte mbs are notorious for not being able to boot properly with excessive usb devices plugged in, not just HDDs.

and speaking about the on/off button thing, well i think wd drives are just fine. u'll get used to the on/off thing. personally i dont plug the power cable in unless i need to access the disk.

NAS drive 4tb

Internal:

60GB = caches/scratch disks for CS4
80GB = operating system/program files/general net storage
320GB = temporary storage for Torrents/games installations
250GB = photos/mp3s

= 710GB

External:

80GB = mobile movie storage for the PS3; other PCs
1TB = permanent Torrent storage
150GB = backups for photos

I'm a photographer hence the need for 2 drives for photos.

= 1.230TB

Will probably add another TB when hard drives go on sale for Boxing Day on the 26th of December, hehe... what will I do with another TB? Not sure...but I do have an extra PCI SATA controller card with 4 ports on the way... :D
