I haven't read that but FIFA do have the final say as to who gets it, and they're currently investigating the incident.

I suppose if it transpires that all Materazzi said was something like; 'I do believe we'll trounce you if it goes to penalty kicks, you bounder', then Zidane will get the award taken off him.
