Re: Would you listen to music in a language you didn't understand?
Yes, if the music hits the spot. Even if it's all made up
For example, you have the music of the Cocteau Twins and Liz Fraser's often intangible lyrics
https://youtu.be/6KnYw4EwYGc
And as another perfect example you also have the gorgeous "Now we are free" from Gladiator with Lisa Gerrard's made up language lyrics
https://youtu.be/NBE-uBgtINg
(I have got to watch that film again...).

I listen to french music sometimes even though I don't understand. But I found out recently some french music videos on youtube have english subtitles. Pretty cool to understand the story then.

Hit "play" while you still can, Artzie Music's account was closed some days ago due to copyright claims and who knows how long this archive will last.

I tried listening to Mozart's Requiem mass once which I believe is in foreign but it made me feel like I should go to church so I said fuck that.
No, I'll stick to languages that I know like Ancient Aramaic and ebonics.

Re: Would you listen to music in a language you didn't understand?
First of all, the music can speak by itself without any words. Instrumental music is the music without words, but it actually tells a lot.
Another point is music sung in a language I don't understand. For example, some time I've heard the "Loona - Hijo De La Luna" song and liked it a lot. I didn't understand a thing, but the music sounded pleasing.
The next step was to find that song on Wikipedia and read about it.
Hijo de la Luna https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hijo_de_la_Luna
If the song is not available on Wikipedia I can find the song lyrics and use Google Translate to translate that song. So, why not?

Re: Would you listen to music in a language you didn't understand?
sometimes the beat and the tones are simply more important than the words...but this comes from a person who enjoys a lot of instrumental :)
-
Re: Would you listen to music in a language you didn't understand?
the language is all the same but the music beat is important ;)

Re: Would you listen to music in a language you didn't understand?
If you're young and don't live in an English country, it means that you listen to a lot of music you don't understand but can appreciate the melody.
