Because IMO threads that have been inactive for a certain amount of time should be auto-closed to prevent abuse.

Yeah can't have silly or ill-advised posts because that would make a mockery of the usual high standards of both this forum and it's members.:mellow:

Listen if you really want to campaign for something may I suggest raising the minimum requirements for membership to 18 years,functional ability in English and a minimum IQ of a hundred.

Bumping old threads is not the same thing as making silly or ill-advised posts. Two very different things.

Those would be good things to campaign for too.

And here I thought that they were exactly the same . Next thing I'll be finding out that chickens and Audis aren't related.

just for the record this thread probably wasn't closed because it still hasn't completely fulfilled it's purpose.

Just saying if somebody wanted to they could bump dozens of old threads from 2008(for example). Something like that would just mess up the flow of the forums

Somebody already has in the past and then the mods took whatever appropriate action was required. Easier and less fascist than just closing threads willy-nilly on a certain expiration date.
