this movie is basically animal cruelty @ it's best.

lol, no but seriously the movie is bad. is this the 1st time jackie used wires in his stunts? only thing that was good was the nostalgia from watching the jackie chan montage @ the beginning of the film. 3/10

i liked it. mels daughter gets killed and he plays a detective and takes the law in his own hands. thought mel did a good job with his character. i usually don't get sucked into dramas that often, but this one flowed well. glad to see mr. gibson back up in the saddle. 7.5/10

This was an enjoyable movie. The movie was releastic and it had a simple meaning which I think it was to follow your heart and choose what makes you happy.

It's a story between a single lonely and depressed mother who is raising 3 kids and is caught up in a dilemma with her husband who is cheating on her with someone much younger.
She meets a truck driver who is 10 years younger than her and they really seem to click with eachother, but the only thing is that she has to choose between taking her husband back and living a normal life again, or starting a life with this new fella who doesn't seem like the right choice because of his abusive past(ex-alcoholic).

I thought this film was horrible. The director tried too hard imo and the movie came out totally exaggerated and lame.

This movie was very touching. It's about a father who tried his hardest to give his kids a good life and put them on the path to sucess, but the only thing is that he pushed them a little too hard.
Now that his wife has died he feels lonely and his kids seem to have deserted him(at least that's how he feels).
By the end of the movie he realizes his mistakes and starts to connect with his kids on a more realistic level.

Must-watch movie imo.

It's a very inspiring story filled with feel-good moments and emotion.

Seriously I don't know why I do this to myself, masochistic maybe.
I'm tempted to write that it is the worst piece of shit that I've ever had the misfortune to watch but sadly that isn't true although it's certainly in the bottom couple percentile.
The biggest problem ,as with most films of this ilk ,is a total disregard for logic.
Why does it take the hero/heroine 2 minutes to run around the store but the killer 2 seconds?
Why when, as a policewoman you are about to enter a house containing the most evil,sadistic ,unstoppable killer in the history of unstoppable ,evil ,sadistic killers do you not call and wait for backup?
This kind of lazy,unconcerned storytelling is what separates merely bad from truly awful .
1/10 the perpetrators deserve a pick-axe to the skull.

One last observation incredibly incompetent director notwithstanding Jensen Ackles seriously can't act.
Who'd have thunk that out of the Supernatural duo Jared Padalecki would be the more talented one.

such angst toward the horror film genre. seems sum ppl can never be satisfied. it's not supposed to have great acting. it's purpose is blood. been awhile since i've seen it, but i know it wasn't 1/10 bad. maybe i'm wrong especially seeing how i do favor the occasional terribad movie.

Why such low standards?
It's certainly possible to satisfy your craving for Karo syrup and Red Dye #2 within the framework of a well written, well acted movie...those are not mutually exclusive demands.

Effective horror demands a suspension of disbelief.
Paint the screen red with blood and hang various organs from the rafters all you want but silliness never made me think twice before turning out the lights before I go to bed.

Suggest you aquatint yourself with the term "pandering"

Excuse me I was confused and thought that maybe someone somewhere along the line wasn't looking to simply sate the bloodlust of a certain cross-section of the population that by inexperience or psychosis don't have an actual clue that human suffering in itself is not entertainment.I thought maybe they had hoped in some tiny part of their soul to tell, if not a worthwhile then at least a coherent story .

Of the "killer" genre, I thought All the Boys Love Mandy Lane was pretty decent. Has a story, blood, babes.

Fido (2006)

Was a little fed up the other night and decided to watch something funny as I wanted a laugh... Fido popped up on one site I was browsing through and as I seen it had Billy Connolly in it I thought it should be funny and might be worth a look. iMDB gave it a 6.9/10 so decided to grab it and give it a go....

How wrong I was... the film lasted 90 minutes but by 40 minutes I was losing the will to live... I cannot even write a decent review about it the film was that bad... I am a big fan of Billy Connolly, primarily of his stand up, but have managed to tolerate his appearances on the silver screen, yeah his Irish accent in the Boondocks films was bad, and yeah he wasn't too convincing in the X Files 3rd installment... but this piece of absolute horse shit took the biscuit...

Do not ever watch this if you can think of anything even remotely constructive to do with 90 minutes... I couldn't even watch the remaining 50 minutes so went off and hugged the dog and kicked the kids instead...

Cinderella Man (2005)

Eventhough Crowe is a douche in RL, I can't seem to hate him in his movies. I liked him here too. The only flaw of the movie that I can think of is that I still don't know what the beef between Braddock's wife and his promotor originally was.

Other than that, a very good movie that doesn't just focus on boxing, but also on life after the great depression. I do think it is a bit overrated on IMDB, though.

Zac and Miri Make a Porno. Starts out well but runs out of jokes and purpose about a third of the way in .By the third act I was unsuccessfully willing it to end but it refused to and dragged on inexorably to it's inane and predictable end.
I took some solace in the fact I had witnessed the beginning of the end of Seth Rogen's career .

Other notes the actual runtime is around 100 minutes but the movie seemed to be at least a hour longer than that.
Never attempt to turn a gross-out sex comedy into a romcom the two just don't mix.
One note comedies rarely work and then only if the the one note is a billion times stronger than here.

Yeah, I really wanted to like Zac and Miri but could only muster a "Meh" when it finished.

IMO, Smith has only successfully integrated his cast of characters with a story once, in Chasing Amy.
Dogma was fun but lacked Amy's heart.

I'm guessing that in Cop Out, Smith spends a few minutes setting up characters and then just lets Tracy Morgan go nuts ala Jason Mewes.

Oh well, bills must be paid.

i was left a bit empty and unsatisfied. it had potential, i wish it went a different direction, but it was definitely a change of moving trends for me. finally one without a "happy ending"

I never saw the original and have never heard of it, so I don't know how good this is compared to it. I did have more than a few laughs and that's what this movie was all about. If it introduces people to Beethoven and his Ode of Joy (which is one of his best works IMO) then all the better. Don't expect the movie to make you think a whole lot, though.

All in all it was good as I expected a lot worse. :P
