Re: You Must Be A Member 1 Month AND Have 10 Posts To Use The BT Invites Section
So anyway, I raised a Report about a thread in the Lounge, and I found myself with 2 replies to my report, from people who were not moderators or admin, but something called "BT Mods".
Since when have "BT Mods" been able to read reported threads, and how come they are allowed to moderate outside of the BT section?

What did they say, as we're all sharing.
I can understand the need for BT Mods but if those same BT Mods are going to spam a thread or threads then surely they cant complain if a member does the same. Surely they should be setting an example for the new people and not needlessly spamming threads.
Whilst we're on the topic of setting an example, why do we have a known leecher as a BT Mod?

Here you go, we've got no secrets here. Especially if every tom, dick and skizo can read your reported threads :dabs:

Either shut down the thread or set the example you expect others to lead.
Also, lots of people posting numbers at the same time can't be good for the server. We get enough problems with downtime as it is without people actively contributing to it.

Sounds good to me, any way to get leechers off the boards is fine by me... trying to figure out if private trackers are worth it though.

There's a difference between posting in the way the thread intended people to post and just posting complete gibberish to get 20 posts to access the invites section...

Actually, there isn't.
I can't see your point here, Ross.

The thread is asking (well, the title asked, but that's now changed to something stupid) members to count to 10,000, 1 number per post probably.
Skizo and other members are doing that, whether you find it fun or not.
This paul guy came too the thread posting complete gibberish 'aada' 'ad'sd' 'dfdffd' stuff like that, so that he could get 20 posts then access the invites section.
First of all, the guy is just destroying the purpose of the 20 posts rule (to try and get to know the member somewhat before trading with them), but more importantly why would we even want a member who's purely here to take an invite then leave (which is almost always the case with those kind spammers)?

That's the thing. Counting in increments of one is less of an acheivment than connecting to the internet. Less even than bashing the keyboard indiscriminantly and deliberately hitting enter, because my son can count but he can't do either of those things.
The twenty post rule is all well and good but it's undermined by that thread because it's mindless spamming - which is exactly the same as the paul guy did.
I don't dislike the thread, I do dislike the invite section - so I have no agenda. I'm just pointing out the undeniable fact that the counting thread undermines the 20 post rule.

The entire lounge undermines it in that case.
Hell the entire forum does.
Nothing is stopping members from just going around the forum posting random shit that pops into their head. It takes little more time than posting gibberish posts in a single thread.
The good thing about them posting gibberish is we catch them and ban from the invites section.
Now another thing.
If this forum didn't have an invite trading section another forum would have the top rank in google.
Now consider that 1) We have many members, mods, etc. who are actively trying to stop the scamming/cheating going on with the trades and 2) mods such as reality and chewie are working together with staff members of major bt sites to try and keep this invite trading, scamming, etc. under control, IMO having the top rank in google is actually HELPING the BT community.
Think...if they don't trade here they'll do it somewhere else. Now this is a controlled environment where we are allowing staff of other bt sites to set the rules for trading invites to their sites with us and allowing them, with certain conditions, to monitor the trading as well, to keep people getting into trouble.
How is this a bad thing?
