I have a friend who has a "spent" conviction from the uk that lives in florida. If he were to go back to the UK he could put no convictions on a job application. He cant do that here as the UK rehabilitations act does not apply.
The irony is that he wouldn't have been charged here to start with as his actions were well within "self defense" guidelines (he hit back)
Try being honest with them from the start and stating it on your initial application or interview next time.
