Re: NaQ's Complete Setup Guide for Linux Seedboxes (Fedora Core/CentOS/Debian/Ubuntu)
You have to edit your fluxbox menu:
Quote:
nano ~/.fluxbox/menu
then, under the section titled [encoding] add this line:
Quote:
[exec] (uTorrent) {wine ~/.wine/drive_c/Program\ Files/uTorrent/uTorrent.exe}
Assuming that you have installed uTorrent in the default path of course.

Re: NaQ's Complete Setup Guide for Linux Seedboxes (Fedora Core/CentOS/Debian/Ubuntu)
Im having some problems with the HDD space of my box. I have an OVH box (seedhost.eu) that is supposed to come with a 250gb HDD. I'm sharing with one person and we've dl'ed over 500gb. To delete the stuff we no longer need, we've either used winscp and just deleted like that or used utorrent to remove torrent and data. However, I've encountered a Disk full error, although only 120gb is being used combined presently. I had a torrent with 2.5gb left to dl that gave me the error, so i removed and deleted via utorrent a 6gb torrent. I then resumed the torrent, but 10 seconds later, i get the Error: Disk full msg as the torrents status. Can anyone help me out here? BTW, I'm using Debian Etch and I'm a complete linux noob.

type in a terminal:
and you will se the available space. If the available space is much lesser than you expected you will have to clean the trash folders:
Code:
$ sudo rm -rf /home/<username>/.local/share/Trash/files
$ sudo rm -rf /home/<username>/.local/share/Trash/info
Also check the advanced settings of utorrent:
gui.delete_to_trash must be set to false.

Hmmm, if you can't run any command there is nothing you can do. Try restarting the server from your manager, if that doesn't work submit a support ticket and wait for a reply.
Edit: I have found this http://www.tektonic.net/forum/showthread.php?t=1296
but try restarting first as I said

Re: NaQ's Complete Setup Guide for Linux Seedboxes (Fedora Core/CentOS/Debian/Ubuntu)

Re: NaQ's Complete Setup Guide for Linux Seedboxes (Fedora Core/CentOS/Debian/Ubuntu)
I think you are doing good, that's how fluxbox works. You have to click on any blank space of the desktop to see the fluxbox menu.
If you type this in terminal:
Code:
$ cat ~/.vnc/xstartup
You should see only this:
If not, edit this file:
Code:
$ nano ~/.vnc/xstartup
There must be only one word:
You have to edit your fluxbox menu:
Code:
$ nano ~/.fluxbox/menu
This is an example:
Quote:
# Generated by fluxbox-generate_menu
#
# If you read this it means you want to edit this file manually, so here
# are some useful tips:
#
# - You can add your own menu-entries to ~/.fluxbox/usermenu
#
# - If you miss apps please let me know and I will add them for the next
# release.
#
# - The -r option prevents removing of empty menu entries and lines which
# makes things much more readable.
#
# - To prevent any other app from overwriting your menu
# you can change the menu name in .fluxbox/init to:
# session.menuFile: /home/dag/.fluxbox/my-menu
[begin] (Fluxbox-1.0.0)
[encoding] {UTF-8}
[exec] (firefox) {firefox}
[exec] (xterm) {xterm}
[exec] (uTorrent) {wine ~/.wine/drive_c/Program\ Files/TuTorrent/uTorrent.exe}
[submenu] (fluxbox menu)
[config] (Configure)
[submenu] (System Styles) {Choose a style...}
[stylesdir] (/usr/share/fluxbox/styles)
[end]
[submenu] (User Styles) {Choose a style...}
[stylesdir] (~/.fluxbox/styles)
[end]
[workspaces] (Workspace List)
[submenu] (Tools)
[exec] (Screenshot - JPG) {import screenshot.jpg && display -resize 50% screenshot.jpg}
[exec] (Screenshot - PNG) {import screenshot.png && display -resize 50% screenshot.png}
[exec] (Run) {fbrun }
[exec] (Regen Menu) {../util/fluxbox-generate_menu }
[end]
[submenu] (Window Managers)
[restart] (mwm) {mwm}
[restart] (kde) {startkde}
[end]
[commanddialog] (Fluxbox Command)
[reconfig] (Reload config)
[restart] (Restart)
[exec] (About) {(fluxbox -v; fluxbox -info | sed 1d) 2> /dev/null | xmessage -file - -center}
[separator]
[exit] (Exit)
[end]
[endencoding]
[end]
When you right click on the desktop the vnc desktop should look like this:
http://img154.imageshack.us/my.php?i...luxboxmenu.jpghttp://img154.imageshack.us/my.php?i...luxboxmenu.jpghttp://img154.imageshack.us/img154/3...boxmenu.th.jpg

Re: NaQ's Complete Setup Guide for Linux Seedboxes (Fedora Core/CentOS/Debian/Ubuntu)
Yeah walkman, thanks anyway :)
Another problem, why the speed is suck, just the upload speed..
Download speed is great, there is any way to solve it ?

Well, the upload speed usually depends on the amount of leechers, and also depends on the ratio seeders/leechers, that is if the torrent in question has more seeders than leechers you will "struggle" against the other seeders to upload every bit :P
I usually check the peer table on the torrent description page if it's available (not all trackers has that feature). Take into consideration that some of the leechers could be really partial seeders and that's why it's a good habit to check the peer table.
These are my settings:

Hi, are you from Israel? Your download speed from ftp great?
-
Re: NaQ's Complete Setup Guide for Linux Seedboxes (Fedora Core/CentOS/Debian/Ubuntu)
mavr15, hmm the maximum that I can get.
Walkman: it doesn't matter, any torrent. I get 13 Kb/s :/
I will try to use your settings and what OS do you have on your server ?
-
Re: NaQ's Complete Setup Guide for Linux Seedboxes (Fedora Core/CentOS/Debian/Ubuntu)
Cr3sp0, I downloaded about a week with max speed, and today in evening i get 10-15Kb/s. Few times i reconnect to my ISP, and now i have max speed. And so repeating standing.

Re: NaQ's Complete Setup Guide for Linux Seedboxes (Fedora Core/CentOS/Debian/Ubuntu)
im running centos 5.2
and my problem is that i cant see the taskbar
well i think that i didnt even started the kde/gnome
i can see grey blank page with options on the left top corner...
-
Re: NaQ's Complete Setup Guide for Linux Seedboxes (Fedora Core/CentOS/Debian/Ubuntu)
If you have followed this guide to set up your seedbox you haven't installed any desktop, neither kde nor gnome.
What do you see when you right click on grey blank page? Please post a screenshot.
If you want a full desktop please read the previous page here, I've already posted how to install xfce which is a ligther desktop than gnome.

Re: NaQ's Complete Setup Guide for Linux Seedboxes (Fedora Core/CentOS/Debian/Ubuntu)
Hey,
After I follow the guide for the Utorrent WebUI everything works fine.
But every three days or so, I cannot access WebUI and need to change the WebUI port number through VNC.
Anyone know how to fix the problem?
And how could you connect through SSL?

I had the same issue and looked at the services running.
Utorrent was still running but taking quite a lot of CPU ressources 98% lol
Each time WebUI is unavailable was for the same reason.
The memory came from Utorrent running under Wine...so I switched to rTorrent and since then no problem.

Try increasing the cache to 1024 MB and limit your Download Rate to 11000 kB/s

Every time I reopen Utorrent after WebUI didn't work anymore, Utorrent says I should change the listening port.
Any ideas?
