I think you're safe enough announcing that here
hoi nerds,
my new build won't wurk.
when I switch it on I get one long beep and two short beeps. the cpu fan doesn't spin up either, it moves a little bit but doesn't spin.
as far as I can see, everything's plugged in right and I've got no hd or graphicks card plugged in or owt. also tried it with only 1 stick of ram and then again with the other stick and it still does the same.
halp?
That sound means that the CPU needs a cup of coffee. Poured on top usually works.
If not, the MB manual should have a breakdown of the beep codes.
Yeah, the mobo manual says it's a mointor or graphics card error:dabs:
Do you have an old one laying around that you could throw in?
If that isn't possible, a check of the BIOS settings might not hurt. Could be something simple in there. Which MB are you using?
I can't get to the bios settings cause it won't boot at all, like. I don't particularly want to reset them or anything either as it came as an overclocked bundle.
I've got a brand new graphics card sitting right here waiting to go in but it still does the same three beeps when I tried it.
the mobo is Gigabyte GA-880GM-UD2H AMD 880G (Socket AM3)
Overclocked bundle? Please give me some details of what was done and by whom.
I wasn't suggesting a flash of the BIOS, just the possibility of something like "turn on/off onboard video".
Interesting. I've never (looked for) came across a pre-overclocked board before. I don't know how their overclock settings could equate to a video card error beep, but it might be worthwhile to give their tech support a ring. Typically, with POST errors, you would be starting with a fresh BIOS. This isn't the case.
There were only a handful of people on Newegg who had posted reviews for that specific board. While there was an unusually high percentage of "failed" boards, no one described the same problem you have run into.
Sorry I could not have been more help.
