the people who distributed the game hacked its serial-checker. you can type anything you want into the serial field, and the single-player mode will work.Quote:

you just won't be able to play online because the servers will check for a valid serial number, unless you can find a server that doesn't require serials to play on it.

The problem with Geforce FX cards and Halo is the pixelshader. GFX cards are set to use PS2.0. And as we all know from the HL2 bench, GFX sucks at ps2.0(at least till the new drivers) What you do is go to the properties of the desktop icon and in the target box add -use14 to the end. THis should set Halo to run in PS1.4 which should solve all the probs for the geforce FX's. There is also another way to do this in the actual file, if the command line edit dosnt work. not sure of the details though.

Its much more betta than the beta release...u can see the difference!

clearly YOU are not listening. i don't care what a bunch of leet noobs on a newsgroup say. obviously the great majority of the people with 3D graphics cards in this thread, both ATI and Nvidia, have had no problem installing and running the game. there is no inherent hardware incompatibility (unless it's incompatible with overclocked graphics cards, which it could be...), so there is something wrong with the setup. the game isn't starting, so stability isn't even a factor? then how is the game sending you error messages indicating that direct3d is failing? "i've done everything right, but the game doesn't work. damned Microshit." if you've done everything right, you would be playing Halo instead of bitching. that's why i didn't both to offer you much help-- you went straight to bitching about the publisher after people couldn't immediately figure out your problem.Quote:

OK clearly your not listening so I'll spell it out for you. OTHER PEOPLE WITH ATI AND NVIDIA GRAPHICS CARDS HAVE HAD THE SAME PROBLEM. Check the alt.binaries.comp newsgroup for examples. If the game doesn't even start then stability doesn't enter in the equation and my PC is totally stable by the way.
