As for the reference, as I saw it, (and it relates to the conversation) was in terms of the old Loungers gathering to talk (caw) amongst themselves and merely mock (as old crows do) those around them as insignificant.
I know all of the specious collective nouns. I learned them all when I was fourteen. I also read Stephen fucking King at that time.
I have since gotten a life.
I'm 36 now.
