the engines are completely different. the old one was no way near as efficient as this one, scenery can be rendered from a distance. vehicles handle better. view distance seems to have doubled. there's better shadows and ragdoll, but you can't ride the tanks anymore thanks to that :fist:
you can have an entire well built village (not two or three generic buildings on sand) with a fire fight and smoke grenades going on; all viewed down from a scope half a mile away and still keep a decent framerate. the old engine would never have been able to do that on what would even today be considered a decent pc.
its same but upgraded, when u say diffrent engine is like Driv3r with Stuntman engine unlike the orginal Driver Series Engine.
tanks movment r better cuz thats how mordern Tanks work(more speed and better movment) unlike WWII and Vietnam time tanks.
i'd say this was like COD campared to battlefield 1942's MOH. wait, that makes no sense.Quote:

Im pritty sure its not the same engine, they may have used the same engine as a base, but by changing it they have created a new engine. Thus why your piece of shit pc cannot handle the newer features such as rendering from a distance.
Btw are you drunk
i'm sure i read somewhere that it was a complete overhaul. to put the two side by side that's what it seems like. now it's just so much more efficient
Guys (and gals?)
When a game goes Gold, it means that they are at the final retail stage and that they are ready to send the "Master copy" to the distributors to start making retail package copies. Historically, the Master was burnt onto a gold colored disc, hence the term "going gold"
You can use it to mean, "out of beta, out of alpha, ready to ship."
Anywayz, I'm arsed out. My specs surpass the requirements for the game and yet, because I don't have any of the video card sets that are listed, I can't play.
Maybe one day....but I still get so much life out of the old BFniner and BFnam that I can wait till the day I update my video card or the day someone comes out with a patch that lowers the video requirements.
hmm... so is this game worth buying? Loved Battlefield 1942. (but mostly played Desert Combat).... does it still got that element of just driving vehicles and jumping off air planes? dont wanna waste 50$ :-\
you could try using 3Danalyse - http://www.tommti-systems.de/start.htmlQuote:

monkeee
from the demo it seems jumping off stuff won't be possible. i tried riding a tank and i just died when it moved
the driving engine is a lot smoother though.
what!??!? i remember in Desert Combat whenn they played the oilrig map, we spawn off the plane and jump off and parachute down!! gawd that was so fun xD
