Flat Iron Steak...
Have you tried this cut of steak? It's fucking yummy. My recipe follows:
2 pounds of Flat iron steak (Top blade)
Marinade: 1 cup of Worcestershire sauce
1 can of Coca-Cola
1/2 cup of red wine
1 cup of olive oil
1 tablespoon of dijon mustard
2 cloves of diced garlic
1/2 tablespoon of rosemary
1/2 tablespoon of thyme
Mix all ingredients in a mixing bowl, place meat in a gallon sized freezer bag (ziplock) pour the marinade over top, and seal the bag (pressing out air as you go). Marinate in the fridge for 12 hours (turn the bag over every few hours).
Grilling:
Bring the steak to room temperature, pat dry and season with salt and pepper. Grill for 6-8 minutes a side on high heat for med rare steak. Let the steak rest 10 minutes, cut against the grain for best results.

Re: Flat Iron Steak...
seems good, but i've never seen coca cola being used as a condiment.
will try it one of these days, probably without the cola.

Re: Flat Iron Steak...
The cola is not used as a condiment. It's used in the marinade for flavor, but mostly as a tenderizing agent (acidic).

Re: Flat Iron Steak...
but doesn't cola make the steak a bit spongy ?
-
Re: Flat Iron Steak...
Nope. Not in the least. It's tender, but not mushy.

Re: Flat Iron Steak...
You could substitute paint-stripper for the Coke, I imagine.
