MAPS:
So far only 4 maps have been confirmed for Battlefield 3:
- Gulf of Oman
- Sharqi Peninsula
- Wake Island
- Back to Karkand
VEHICLES:
Tanks:
APC:
- Bradley Fighting Vehicle
- BMD-3
- LAV 25
- Choppers:
- The helicopters in Battlefield 3 will most certainly include the main combat helicopters of the US — the Apache — and its Russian counterpart, the Mil MI28.
Jets:
So far we’ve only seen two jets in the trailers that have been shown, and those jets are:
- F/A 18 Super Hornet
- F16 Fighting Falcon (set to make its debut in Battlefield 3).
Others jets are:
- Sukhoi Su-35
(long rage, multi-purpose jet capable of air and ground attacks, and is loaded with state of the art technology and guidance systems). - MiG 29 Fulcrum
(the main competitor to the US F/A 18 Super Hornet.)
WEAPONS:
(the latter weapons in each category are unlocks)
-Assault:
- M16A2
- HK 416
- FN2000
- Steyr Aug
- AEK-971
-Sniper
sniper rifles in Battlefield 3 will be comprised of real world rifles that are in service in various armies around the world.
-Machine guns:
Battlefield 3 will feature many of the popular machine guns used in previous Battlefield games.
-Submachine guns:
sub-machine guns (SMGs) and carbines will be available, and it’s expected to be based on popular guns in previous Battlefield games.

- M1911
CLASSES:
Battlefield 3 will feature 4 classes (or kits), much like previous Battlefield games andexpected to be virtually the same as they were in Bad Company 2.
Assault:
The Assault class carries a primary weapon consisting of an assault rifle — like the M4 and AK-47 — and has the ability to resupply ammunition to teammates.
Recon:
The recon carries a sniper rifle for long range engagement, and has the ability to call in artillery strikes (unlock).
Medic:
The medic is armed with a Light Machine Gun and has the ability to drop med packs to heal wounded soldiers, and has the ability to revive fallen soldiers as well.
Engineer:
The Engineer’s primary role is to engage tanks and armored vehicles with an array of rocket launchers such as the RPG-7 and the AT4. The primary weapon is a carbine rifle.
CONFIRMED: (most already known)
- Players: 64 players on PC, 24 players on Xbox 360/PS3.
- No Commander. Commander feature won’t be included, as DICE will focus on “lowering the threshold” for players.
- 4 classes, just like in Bad Company 2. DICE feels this is the sweet spot for the game.
- Battlefield 2 maps, several BF2 maps will return in a DLC called “Back to Karkand”. The maps are: Strike at Karkand, Gulf of Oman, Wake Island and Sharqi Peninsula.
- New squad features. DICE plans to take the squad system to the next level, offering new features. According to the Game Informer interview, DICE says, “We have some really cool things that we’ll show later when it comes to dictating how you play with friends“.
- Weapons and unlocks. BF3 will have more weapons and unlocks than in Bad Company 2, which itself had the most weapons and unlocks of any Battlefield game to date.
- Deeper persistence, rankings. One of the issues with Bad Company 2 was that most of the weapons were unlocked before reaching half of the ranks. Says DICE in the GI interview, “we’re also making sure that there is a reason for you to reach the top rank. It doesn’t just end. There will be a lot of focus on persistence and how we present stuff to the player.”
- Jets will return, so far only the US F18 and Russian Mig 29 have been spotted in various trailers.
- Prone will return, DICE will counter prone will killcam, bullet traces and other ways in order to balance the gameplay.
- Killcam will be back and it will be a feature that can be turned on/off on server to server basis.
- DICE will have more focus on post-release content (DLC)
- Co-op for the single player campaign
- No mod tools at release.
Unconfirmed, but likely
- In-game movie recording is technically possible, but DICE is looking into how to incorporate it into the final product.
- 3 war-theaters: New York, Paris, Tehran, although it is unsure whether this is for the singleplayer campaign, multiplayer, or both.
...and mostly what you've been waiting for...

Re: Battlefield 3 news updates (LATEST: HARDWARE REQUIREMENTS)
Can't remember if I posted this before but here it is anyway. If you want to chew some quota then download this 12 min gameplay trailer:

Only con I seem to be noticing is that the stationary vehicle sprites still look as if they were created in 2006.

Apart from the minor fault above I was very impressed with it, can't fucking wait!!! Console gamers are going to cringe, finally!
