The Black is a better athlete to begin with

because he’s been bred to be that way. Because of his high thighs that go up into his back. And they can jump higher and run faster because of their big thighs…. The Black is the better athlete because this goes all the way to the Civil War, when, during the slave trading, the owner, the slave owner, would breed this big Black woman so that he would have a big Black kid

When I was a little 'un - the old war hero at the end of our street told my friends and I that black people can't swim properly because of their noses. He strengthened his position by saying that's the reason you don't see any black swimmers at the Olympics.

Well, I think he was bigoted rather than some kind of mental visionary but there really aren't many black swimmers at the Olympics :unsure:

Well, altho' he died like fifteen years ago, I'm pretty sure he was a bigot, so his views don't count.

I'm not a swimming fan but the only black swimmer I can ever recall seeing at the Olympics was Eric the Eel.

I really don't know if there have been more, just seems weird that I've never seen any.

I heard that it was to do with body density, but I thought it might be rubbish so decided not to post.

Busy has seen black swimmers at the Olympics anyhow, so it can't be true :ermm:

We already hit basketball and football with fury. We're creeping up in tennis and golf.

We'll get to swimming soon enough....

(perhaps there isn't much money in swimming and that's why we ain't there, who knows)

According to the Centers for Disease Control, in 2000, black people drowned 1.4 times as much as white people. That rate, however, increases for black children ages 5 to 19; they drown 2.4 times as much. Black adolescent males are 12 to 15 times more likely to drown than white adolescent males.

Now there are gripping historical and cultural reasons behind why black people wind up being non-swimmers. The indifference toward swimming, some say, originates from the days of segregation, when black people were banned from public swimming pools, and most were too poor to afford private pools.

Today, black people often cannot afford to pay for swimming lessons, and although free and reduced price lessons are available in many places, many black people still don’t view swimming as a priority.

Swimming is, by and large, still viewed by many black people as a sport rather than a skill — and a sport that they aren’t very good at.

That means that until a Tiger Woods emerges from the competitive swimming world, many black parents won’t be clamoring to demand lessons for their children.

Then there’s our obsession with protecting our hairstyles rather than learning how to protect ourselves from drowning.
