Why do you think SATA is the issue?
im not sure, when i was installing the sata driver during xp installation it said error or something but it said starting windows xp right after
im on the computer right now, but sometimes it boots sometimes it doesnt, its making me angry. Also i just installed norton, and now i dontw ant it, when i uninstall it takes like a bajillion years for one bar is that right?
and then sometimes it give me errors
:blushing:
Reboot from cd drive hit install sata drivers ......... insert driver disk ?
will i lose all my stuff i have on it right now?
and do you mean put xp disc in reboot then try installing sata drivers again?
Well ya I'm talking about reformating ,you know Fdisk & format wipe out the sucker . Mabye thats your problem ...... Youy would need to back up your stuff tho before that .
Ok you have a new computer that your trying to set up ? But want to save the harddrive ?
is there a way to back up my files without making tons of data disc
can anyone answer my question with symantic?
I wouldn't let Norton within spitting distance of Sprocket...it's absolute crap, rivalling AOL for it's pervasiveness and obnoxious behaviour.Quote:

I'm somewhat disturbed hearing about your SATA driver install erroring out...not good.
If you do a repair install (NOT the repair console) you don't lose any data/apps (theoretically).
hmm i guess i got nothing to lose most of my stuff are on discs already
im going to try and get a new driver though
make a new disc
how do i uninstall symantic
its getting errors at uninstall
Jeez.
All this crap would go away with a wipe/reload of the OS.
Do it now, get over it and begin to enjoy your new PC.
ugh ill try tommrow
I don't get it.
Your PC should whip through an install, surely not much longer than 30-35 minutes, so what's all the sighing about?
There are members of this forum whose machines take longer than that to just render a page, so suck it up, Private!*
*Just working on my R. Lee Ermey imitation there. Please, just carry on as you were.*
haha clocker your pretty cool, its just i got so much work to do... but ill get it in there, at the moment its working fine i just cant get symantic out
CLOCKER! IM OFFICIALLY DONE WITH MY COMPUTER!
I did not take your advice, but i uninstalled norton with help from norton themselves via there website, (it had direction on how to uninstall when windows xp uninstaller doesnt work) and i updated the drivers of all the programs on my computer.
Final Pictures shall be up tommrow, yes i did tie bak the wires
im at a stone cold 23 C* of processor while everything else is below 30 C* i guess my exaust fan is doing its job along with the 4 other fans i got. Hence the last thing to do, is get a good monitor (flatpanel lcd) and good speakers

I thought the ice cream was for the help provided for your new PC. Now you want discounted RAM?Quote:

Oh, it's not a problem.
Of course, my definition of "discounted ram" is "RAM that doesn't work" and I have access to LOTS of that.
How many keychains do you want to make?
10 or so?
Better be damn fine ice cream then.
The RAM will be free but the shipping&handling is going to be pricey.
My 35 year old car only gets @25 MPG.
Hmmm. Interesting guessing game...
Can we guess what 1970 car gets 25 MPG and that clocker would drive?
I'm thinking that 25 MPG is quite good for that era. I wonder if it's overclocked.
Build date was June of 1971.
That's 25mpg on the highway...city driving goes down to @20, and in the winter (like now, dammit) I'm on the choke all the time, so it's even worse.
And yes, it's heavily modified.
It even runs exceptionally cool.
So cool that the heater is basically useless even with half the rad blocked off and a higher temp thermostat installed.
Keep guessing.
J2 can't enter...he's actually seen it.
That eliminates the Bug (air cooled).
bmw 2002
No.
Hint: it's a two-seater.

Nope.
Not British.
