I had to reformat my cousin's pc (a Dell) not long ago
(she had more infections than a Tijuana hooker)
wasn't fun trying to find drivers
if it wasn't for Everest & Google/Yahoo....that pc would still be on a bench....just sitting
Dell's site is a fuckin mess
-edit-
ah, hell, why pull punches now, eh?
their pcs are a fuckin mess too
passive cooling on a P4 (just a heatsink, with a shroud connected to the rear exhaust fan)
the bracket for the heatsink don't look nothing like a P4 standard,
so I didn't even entertain the thought that I could put better cooling in
the HDD standing on it's nose, blocking any air flow from the front of the case
(I've worked on 2 Dells in my life, both were the same)
you can't tell wtf you have in a mobo, it's not stamped on the board, and Dell won't tell you
some bullshit propietary mobo I guess
maybe I'm too much of a control freak, but I'd not even take a Dell if it were given to me
yeh when i try those, they say device not found, anyone know?Quote:

http://www.belarc.com/free_download.html
Then google your mobo for drivers , or what is the model # of your Dell machine then check the Dell site its there !

Ok I searched too , but just the 2002 drivers from the Dell site . Just a thought but have you tryed the Windows Update site ? Funny sometimes it will give you new drivers , but watch out for the video drivers It gives you old ATI drivers . Probably better to check the chip set or mobo drivers .
oh....dumb question.....is this a Pentium system?
being a Dell I kinda figure it is.....so.....
have you installed the Intel .inf utility or whatever the hell it is?
or, better yet, get the Intel chipset identifier thingamabobber, see if that helps
it didn't on my cousin's Dimension 4600, but hey....
what about for dell 4700?Quote:

Which mentions a driver update of 12/12 /2005 but when you follow the link you get an 2003 driver ?
Typical Dell , they have three different sound chips for that model Turtle Beach, Creative sound and your model ADI . Could you mabye follow the directions to
ID your onboard sound and go from there ?

but seriously, I would think about an expansion sound card
they are fairly cheap, a Creative card will have better support than your onboard,
and it can also help to improve system performance in gaming
-edit- and can you please remove the bows from that girl's nipples...they're obscuring the view :P
