I Just Got Back From Watching King Kong
And it’s easily one of the top five movies that I’ve ever seen. I haven’t been this blown away since I went to see Saving Private Ryan for the first time and I could have easily walked right back into the theater and watch it again.
What a masterpiece.

Re: I Just Got Back From Watching King Kong
i heard it was too long...and it really didnt need to be as long as it was.
still going to see it at a nice theater though.
-
Re: I Just Got Back From Watching King Kong
It’s not to long. It takes time to develop a story and characters so that you can get to know them.
-
Re: I Just Got Back From Watching King Kong
i felt it took too fuckign long for them to get to the island...

Re: I Just Got Back From Watching King Kong

Re: I Just Got Back From Watching King Kong
I really think that anyone who thinks that this movie is to long has the attention span of a flea. I don’t know what it is about people hearing that a movie is three hours long that make them not want to go see it. A story takes time to tell and develop and so do that characters that are in the movie so that you have an understanding as to what’s really going on.
Good movies are so few and far between now that its rare when really good ones come along like this one.

I agree. However, getting to know the characters should be interesting and not boring.
I saw the first LOTR because I had just put my car in the shop and a friend of mine was going to see it. I needed a ride anyway so I saw the movie.
I was bored to tears. Each of the other LOTR movies got better but I was pissed I went to the movies that day.
I think I'm going to wait 'till KK comes on cable or DVD so I can watch it in installments in the comfort of my own home.
I have HD, a subwoofer, and surround sound. I get my microwave popcorn, turn the lights off in the basement and it's pitch black down there besides the light from the TV.
No problem.

B I still like to watch movies like this at the theater.
I remember going to see Saving Private Ryan for the first time and being blown away by it. I went to see it again the next day and 3 more times after that because I loved watching it on the big screen.
This movie is sorta like that as well. I probably go to see it again at the theater before it comes out on DVD.

I don't dl cam movies anymore. It's shit quality. Every blue moon my friend gets a DVD rip or damn close too it and watch that. I think the last I had of that was Shrek 2.
With how far away you sit from a theater screen and how far away I sit in front of my own big screen, I think I'm ok with not paying to see movies at the theater all the time.
I don't have to worry about falling asleep, I can't take a piss without missing the movie, and don't have to spend a bundle on food and drink.
One day I'm going to hook up an LCD projector for a bigger screen but I'd have to move my seating accordingly. My cousin already such a setup. He sits on playing SOCOM online all the time.

Re: I Just Got Back From Watching King Kong
It's fucking King Kong, how could this movie possibly be a 9/10?!? How can it possibly be better then the other 300 shitty King Kong movies, aside from a little CGI. :ermm:

Re: I Just Got Back From Watching King Kong
I've never liked remakes. Maybe they should have twisted it round a bit. For example, have it with a 100 foot woman and a pocket-sized monkey. :dabs:

Re: I Just Got Back From Watching King Kong
Saw this last night, and I thought it was OK. The effects were spectacular and there were some great scenes, but as a film it kind of limped along.
As for the three hours being needed for character development - what character development? There were only three characters at the end of the movie that we could possibly have seen any development in, and those three personalities were as distinctly flat and cliched as they were at the beginning. No character had taken any kind of journey or changed remotely throughout the length of the film.
Spoiler:
Show
It was also pretty stupid how they cut from unconcious ape on island to chained up onstage in NYC - quite how they managed that move is unknown to me.

No I don’t have a big screen (right now). The only big screen that I want is plasma and I think I’ll wait another year before I get one so that the prices will be more reasonable. I have a 36’ now that’s about 2 years old and I paid a pretty penny for it so I don’t want to spend another 5 grand on a tv.

Plasma TVs have gas that leakes out and TV must be serviced every 5 years. I doubt it even has the same life cycle the other TVs have. Not only that, you can't get a huge plasma screen to my knowledge. I don't think 55" screens are even affordable (if they make 'em). I personally think that TV manufacturers have duped folks into smaller screens at higher prices.Good luck.
Either way you not having a big screen explains alot.
-
Re: I Just Got Back From Watching King Kong
Well the plasma that I want is a Best Buy and is 53’ and cost 10 grand. Every time I go to Best Buy I go stand in front of it and drool.

Imagine if you had that at home. You'd hit the the theaters less.
