Guitar players, need your opinion

I wanna keep it sweet and short:

Been playing for about a year now, and I've experimented with some guitars, mostly BC Rich stuff (NJ Warlocks to be specific), and I like the feel of it, but I want to give some other companies a try.

What would you guys recommend?

Ibanez is pretty good, a friend of mine has the Mick Thompson signature one MTM1, it plays like none other that I've played so far, but price is wayy too much. I also tried out a Fender telecaster that James Roots uses, awesome pickups on it but once again too pricey.

So from your experience, what guitar do you think is a good choice for under $1000 Canadian (preferabbly 600-800 if possible)?

I'm more into playing heavy metal, and old school metal (think Master of Puppets and Kill em all metallica, Iron Maiden, Pantera, that kinda stuff).

All suggestions welome, and thanks in advance. :)

(2nd guitar I ever bought...sold it...then bought it again....auctioned it...and yes, bought it again, in the end i made a net profit on this one, but obviously the warlock I have now is not the same one I originally had)

kick ass guitar btw, the 2nd one that i have (on sale ;) ) looks exactly like a good old strat....except it isnt one :dry:
